My husband and I find George & Violets to be our favorite place to dine in Springfield. The beautiful atmosphere, the delicious food and having Conner as your waiter makes G&V a MUST go to! Love, Love, LOVE ❤️
I communicated with the waiter I had a gluten allergy - he assured us the menu was “very gluten free” and named off a few items we couldn’t order. We ordered 2 hand rolls to start and the pork cheek bourguignon & 12oz ribeye. Hand rolls were a 3/10 max (king salmon one was overcooked the pork one was just…. Meh). Ribeye came out overcooked, definitely an 8oz not 12. The fries that came with both dishes were laughably bad. I had one bite of the pork cheek and immediately started having an allergic reaction. I was in shock as my partner tried to get the bill and get us out of there. Oddly, there was no acknowledgment or apology from the waiter. He came over looking confused and brought us our bill and then walked away and we never saw him again. I called the restaurant the next day to talk to someone about what happened, and the woman (i think the owner?) on the phone basically told me i was crazy and there was “nothing with gluten” they served me. I don’t and have never had this reaction without being served something with wheat. My partner then called and the woman was defensive & dismissive with him as well.
TLDR: This place sucks. It’s hard to see a local business struggle, but when they are so dismissive and hostile towards something so serious it’s hard to root for their success. The food was bad, the cocktails were bad, and the service was 0/10. If you’re going to serve me something im allergic to and then lie about it I would at the very least expect for that portion of the meal to be compensated.

This has got to be one of my top favorite places in the area for high end, delicious food. Every bite was sensational! We started with the Salmon Crudo, I could honestly eat 5 plates of this and have been dreaming about it since. Next we had beef and rice balls which were perfectly crispy on the outside and flavor was off the charts. My husband had the dungeoness crab pasta and I had the duck - both were incredible. Cocktails were great too, and the service was fantastic. 10/10
My wife & I went in for a nice dinner, looking for a decent spot for a good steak and other food. We made a reservation and when we arrived we were seated in a very nice booth.
However, we ordered our food and our app came - which we got the chicken nuggets because we thought it'd be fun :) They were very bland, a little grey, but very crispy. The sauce it came with was decent. Overall they were okay, but we didn't expect much as they were nuggets.
Our dinners arrived after some time and my wife got a $60 steak and I got tri-tip. The steak was less than 1/2 inch thick and that was literally the only thing on the plate. They did give her a small bowl of fries - which were good. The tri-tip I got was a small portion and the only side I received was fries. *Note: We did not choose sides, this is just how it comes.
Honestly, at the price points - I expected more. A $60 steak that looked like it came from Wal-Mart and was not cooked correctly & the Tri-Tip was half inedible fat. The flavor was overrun with their marrow sauce, which was decent and complimented the fries well. The steak and tri-tip were disappointing.
The steak had zero sear, was poor quality meat & very thin. The tri-tip was 1-2 bites of "okay" and then inedible fat. Some of the worst food I've had for $120+ dollars.
Service was decent, the person was nice but we didn't get a refill of our waters until dessert.
Dessert was good.

A year ago, we had two previous good experiences here, and chose it for our anniversary dinner. According to their website, they prefer email for reservations. We emailed them on Monday and never received a reply. On Wednesday we called to confirm, and left voicemail, but again no response. On Thursday we finally spoke to someone and had to complain to get a reservation when they said they were already full. They criticized us for not calling, when we pointed out their website clearly states email is preferred.(see pic) We ordered the Tri Tip that we had ordered previously and enjoyed. This time, we received basic generic French fries, rather than the red potatoes they had before, with delicious seasoning and sauce. In addition, they charged us for the $60 12 oz steaks, when we ordered the 8oz for $28 each. We were so disappointed enough to not return again.

We never heard back when we tried to make a reservation a week in advance. The meal was disappointing, as their potato sides now include generic french fries that looked like something you’d get at a Red Robin. At the end of the meal, they charged us for the $60 steaks when ours were $28 each. For our anniversary dinner, this was a disappointment. We will not be returning.
We went to George + Violet's in Springfield last night and they are, hands down, our favorite restaurant. Pretty, comfortable, vintage atmosphere with no pretension. The food is absolutely delectable, and well presented. We had baked brie, rainbow trout, and crab pasta. We had roast duck and brisket last time. Perfection.
Run by a kind woman who manages all the things and her chef husband who cooks to make people happy. They are a delight!
Plus, the owners are too modest to mention this, but the server was happy to tell us Julia Roberts has dined there twice.

If you're looking for the best steak around, this is the place. Bone marrow butter was amazing.

2 Ribeye steaks ordered but the cut was a New York Steak. Definitely not a Ribeye. It was on the tougher side as well.

This was the first time I had ever been here (my wife had been before and raved about it for a whole year before we made it back up to oregon) . Let me tell you, it was nothing short if spectacular from the greeting walking in, to the very charismatic waiter. We enjoyed every minute we were here. The food was divine, and heaven is the closest that dessert could be compared to. We will certainly be joining them everytime we are in town.

Wonderful place to eat! I had the tri-tip reuben. Best reuben I've ever had, by a long shot. Everything was high quality here. We had a party of 10 and everyone was happy.
