Great atmosphere, laid back. Pet friendly and great food. The bartenders are fantastic!
Chris cooked us a great steak!! Great service and food.
The food was delicious. We will definitely go back!
I come in here mostly when I have to wait to go to Goodwill for job searching. I like the beer prices and the meal deals on Taco Tuesday. I like Shaylene and Alyssa the best, because they are nice and talkative and I tip them even when I don’t have a job or am financially stressed. Alyssa and Shaylene get 5 stars from me for customer service and making great drinks . Whenever I see or say hello to the owner I notice she always looks upset to see me, seems like she is privately coming up with reasons I should be hurt or why she should be rude to me, and sometimes is rude enough not to even respond to me when I give her a compliment. Today I came in after for the second time in six months and the owner said “oh not again “. I ignored it when I shouldn’t have. I ordered from nice Alyssa the beefy enchilada soup which was delicious. I told the owner “delicious soup” and she tried to not to look at me, looked irritated and upset with any inner suggestion that she should respond to me and didn’t. When Alyssa and Shaylene are not there I feel a long and instilled feeling that I shouldn’t have come in and that I should have tried The Alibi bar. If Alyssa and Shaylene were not working there anymore I probably would not visit which I am sensing would be more appreciated by the owner.
A Chef’s Honest Take on Grid Iron Grill & Tap House
Last night, we visited Grid Iron Grill and Tap House — and what I thought would be a casual night out turned into a memorable experience that truly deserves recognition.
The atmosphere was immediately inviting, with a 90s music backdrop that made the space feel both nostalgic and warm. We reconnected with a friend we hadn’t seen in years, and the setting couldn’t have been more perfect for it. The hostess was incredibly kind, made jokes and was attentive. You could tell that care and presence are part of the culture here.
Now, as someone who has a degree in culinary arts and owns a restaurant myself, I don’t take food lightly. I understand the energy, the precision, and the intention it takes to create something simple and make it excellent. And I’m not exaggerating when I say: the burger I had last night was the best I’ve had in the Eugene/Springfield area.
I ordered the classic burger with cheese and a side of onion rings — and every single element was executed with thought. The onion rings were crisp, perfectly cooked, not greasy or soggy. The burger was built on a beautifully soft bun and came layered with mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. But what impressed me most was the intentionality.
The vegetables weren’t tossed on carelessly — they were fresh, placed with purpose, and balanced the burger from the first bite to the last. The lettuce was crisp and dry, the tomato was vibrant and flavorful, and the onion added the perfect crunch. The patty itself was cooked just right — not too thick, not too thin — and it had been allowed to rest, which is something many overlook. The result? No soggy mess, no bleeding juices, just a beautifully composed bite every time.
Even the fact that it was served on a plate instead of a basket made a difference. It felt like I was being served a meal, not fast food — and that matters.
I was so moved by the attention to detail that I asked to meet the chef. Neil — thank you. I looked you in the eye and said it, but I’ll say it again here: your care and precision came through in every bite. A burger may seem like a simple menu item to some, but crafting something simple with excellence is no easy feat. It’s often the most overlooked dishes that require the most discipline, and Neil reminded me of that.
This meal reminded me why I do what I do. Food is energy. Every ingredient, every technique, every decision — it all matters. And Neil proved that it matters here.
We’ll absolutely be back. And next time, I’m ordering the steak. Because if a burger can be done with this much care, I can only imagine what else is coming out of that kitchen.
Grid Iron, you’ve earned my respect.
nice friendly neighborhood bar & grill
Great place to spend time with colleagues after a day at work)
I was there earlier and tried the patty melt special. Neil definitely knows what he's doing in the kitchen. I will definitely be a regular customer.
Great place to kick back and enjoy some food and drink. Taco Tuesday is a lot of fun as well. I’ll be going back every Tuesday.
Great hamburgers! We order online 4 orders to go in between games at the Sports Complex. Food was ready when we needed it, hot, made to order, and very tasty. Highly recommend.

I’ll admit, we were only there killing time between volleyball games at Bob Keefer but the location was great for that and we went back a few times over the tourney. Typical dive-like bar, a few gambling machines with quick/friendly service. They had $5 liquor (any kind) which was impressive. Didn’t eat anything aside from loaded fries but they were good. Place smells a bit like your grandmas house but we decided it added to its friendly local bar vibe 😂 will totally go back next time we’re at Bob Keefer Sports Complex
Awesome dive bar chicken fried steak breakfast! The gravy was great. The one stars need to quit bitchin. She's busy. Wait your damn turn.
Was a overall very good experience.... I'd recommend to everyone....
Great place for a beer and a burger and watch the game on TV great service clean place good parking
Me and my fiancé have been going to this bar for the last year and a half. It has tremendously gone downhill and the last four months that we have been there we went in tonight which is January 31st and when we walked in, we had a complete Hit of shit swept in our face sewage. This bar has gone downhill and this was our favorite bar to go to after tonight we will not be returning. It was disgusting. The smell of the bar was disgusting and we will never return.
