I had the catfish and the red beans & rice. Both were excellent! I enjoyed sitting down and trying the different hot sauces with my bites too. 😁 I haven't tried any of the specials yet, if I do I'll try and be sure to call in advance because they are definitely in high demand frequently. ☺️

UPDATE NOVEMBER 2025- Now that we tried more of their menu, I had to come back and update my review. STILL off the chain!! We love every single thing we have had!! Word has clearly gotten around- so sometimes when we go they are slammed, especially with some of their more popular specials and on weekends. They are so good at warning you when you order, in case you aren't able to wait a little bit. And sometimes they have sold out and/or closed early, but we always see this as a good thing, it usually means they had a good day! AND they are great about updating their Facebook when that happens so just check before you head over! (If you can, go earlier in the day too, just in case.)
Now THIS is some good soul food!! Full of flavor with great sauces- both in-house made and selection of bottled ones. Your only issue will be deciding what to get!

Have tried to go to this place 3 times all times times were 45-30 minutes before 7pm and they say they are done for the day and closed. Obviously they are not open until till 7pm ad statated on Google or Facebook
Four of us showed up last night to eat inside to find that the end of the day was weighing on the owner and he wanted to close early and asked us to do take out. As two of us were heading 20 mins east and two heading 20 minutes west after dinner we thought we’d just eat inside the car. After ordering most everything on the menu, the owners energy returned and we had an amazing picnic-style family meal on their benches and counter. When we finished, and were carrying our delicious peach cobble & banana pudding desserts home, we asked each other, ‘What did you like best?’ The consensus was everything, but the catfish and gumbo stood out. I think their collard greens were the best I ever had. We’ll eat there again!!

Everything I’ve tried has been delicious! The soups are amazing the chicken tenders, fried catfish (hands down the best I've ever had), the hush puppies the banana pudding the gumbo and the Sunday dinner specials are great. Love the old school music and chatting with new people as I’m waiting for my order.

Catfish po'boy and Mac n cheese was fantastic! Very fresh, hot food! I couldn't try everything I wanted to, but I'll definitely be back!! Owners were friendly and welcoming. Don't pass it up.

I've been back a few times trying the gumbo once and red beans and rice the next. Honestly it tastes weird and both had a similar flavor which shouldn't be the case. Meh?
Food truck review: I was hesitant to try the catfish because I've never had anything close to real Cajun food in Oregon. I'm from Louisiana and I'm going to say this place does it 100% legit. Good food, good service, and good portions. It was nice to have someone else cook the food I cook as good as I cook for me. Haha We'll be back. Nervous about the Gumbo but I'm coming to try it.

Ordered the gumbo, chicken tenders with mac n cheese, banana pudding, sweet tea. Tried the greens as well and let me tell you! Every single dish was sooo gooood 🔥 I've never had authentic southern food before like gumbo and I'm so glad and proud to have tried it first at styr chicken. The food was delicious full of flavor and seasoning. Chicken tenders are big and juicy, the fried breading on the fried shrimp was crispy. Gumbo wax seasoned well and pipping hot. It's hard to find good flavorful food in Oregon, having lived in Texas, I miss this kind of food and glad I found this place.
