We just attended the Winter Wonderland Holiday Tea that was hosted by Opal 28 (reviewed them separately also on Google). The picture on the Doja website is far from what you'll receive if you attend this event. The event is held in what appears to be an abandoned storefront. There were no holiday decorations to speak of and frankly, the place was not nice. Considering the $70 price per person this was definitely not worth what we received which included 3 stale sandwiches each, one very small scone with rock hard clotted cream and fig jam, cold 3-ounce butternut harvest soup and a few other small items. The food was clearly carted into the location. The menu offered a vegetarian menu, but the server never even asked and just brought out the standard fare to our entire table. For $70 a person, plus $24 for two mimosas, we walked out spending $400. Other than the holiday music, there was nothing "Winter Wonderland" about our experience. I do hope that the actual tea room location is better, but I'd never take a chance with Doja considering how this trip went. Save yourself some money and I'd look elsewhere if you want to celebrate the holiday season with friends and family.
**Review for Doja Winter Wonderland Tea Pop-Up at Opal 28**
Party of 4, $70/person
I was excited to attend this winter-themed high tea experience with friends, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations, especially at this price point.
The pop-up was hosted at Opal 28 in NE Portland, but there were no clear indicators for the entrance. This left us awkwardly trying a few locked doors before finding the right one—a simple sandwich board or sign would have been helpful.
Inside, the decor was charming and festive, capturing the holiday theme beautifully! However, logistical details like coat storage were lacking; with only two pegs available, we had to drape our coats over our chairs.
Two of our party of four were delayed, which meant we missed most of the “tea service” experience—a disappointment, though not the fault of Doja. However, those of us seated felt a lack of warmth and flexibility from the staff in accommodating our situation. Since the food and tea were designed to be shared between two people, it would have been nice to start the experience properly rather than being made to feel like an inconvenience.
When the tea was finally served, the experience lacked the polish and attention to detail one expects from high tea. There was no introduction to the tea selections, no discussion of steeping times, and no cream or sugar offered (though we noticed other tables received these). The tea bites were presented without much ceremony, and a few listed menu items were unavailable. Some sandwiches appeared as though they had been sitting out for a while.
While the setting was undeniably cute, the overall experience didn’t justify the $70/person price tag. High tea is about both the food and the service, and at this price, both should be exceptional.
Absolutely amazing tea shop!!✨ From top to bottom 🥰 It's in the cutest location right by a little pond, and the inside is just as cute with precious teacups and saucers displayed everywhere 😍 I went with a large party (13) and we used their private room which was spacious and absolutely lovely and even had an attached bathroom so we never had to leave during our stay 💖 Even though there were a lot of us, the lovely staff made sure everyone got the tea they wanted and was overall very helpful and attentive. The food was divine and perfect for a tea party, all fresh and aesthetic ✨ I can't rave about this place enough and definitely plan to visit again!
Beautiful location nice staff good food and amazing tea selection would definitely go again
Doja Tea Lounge is impeccable 😻 I’ve been here twice now! My large party and I had an unforgettable experience here, thanks to their fabulous food, exceptional hospitality, and the stunning new private dining hall.
The scones were perfectly baked—flaky, buttery, and paired wonderfully with their house-made jams. We loved the creative and flavorful options on their special seasonal menu, which added a delightful touch to our gathering. And, of course, the variety of teas was second to none; there was something for everyone to enjoy.
The new private dining hall is gorgeous—tastefully designed with a cozy yet elegant atmosphere, perfect for celebrating special occasions. The scenic setting, complete with a cute pond just outside, made the experience even more magical and photo-worthy.
Doja Tea Lounge is a must-visit, whether you’re hosting a big event or simply stopping by for a peaceful afternoon tea. I can’t wait to come back!
We had an amazing experience at doja!! The food and tea were so delicious, and the environment and atmosphere was perfect for relaxed conversation! Definitely recommend, looking to be back soon!
so good?? all the staff were super sweet and attentive, and the food was all delicious!! I definitely recommend!
Was good but now they changed to some fancy tea by reservations or something
It's a very nice tea menu...but really hard to park and get to. And overpriced. But it is a lovely tea place.
Highly recommend coming here for tea service! The food and teas were incredible and you can’t beat the view over the water. The staff were all very kind and attentive as well!

My friend and I share the same birthday, and she treated me to Doja Tea Lounge to celebrate. It was my first time there, and I was impressed with the décor—the room was beautifully set up, and the entrance and lobby had a charming theme. The service at the entrance was prompt, and they explained the process to us since it was our first visit.
I was pleasantly surprised by the extensive selection of teas, and the ones we chose were enjoyable. However, I was quite disappointed with the quantity and quality of the food included in the $66 per person price. The food felt subpar, and given the cost, I would have expected something more thoughtful—perhaps even a drink like a mimosa, especially since it was brunch time.
Another issue was that while registering, we indicated that we were celebrating birthdays. The receptionist mentioned there would be something special at the table, but this was completely missed. To add to the disappointment, when we were checking out, we noticed another guest celebrating a birthday receiving a special treat. When I inquired about this, the staff explained it was due to a system error. While mistakes happen, I would have expected good customer service to promptly address the oversight, especially when we brought it up.
Additionally, we noticed some inconsistencies in the food service. For instance, another table in the same room received an extra celery item on their plates, which we didn’t get. It made us feel like there was preferential treatment, which felt unfair considering everyone was paying the same price.
Overall, while the ambiance and tea selection were great, the food quality, lack of attention to special requests, and inconsistencies in service left us disappointed. At $66 per person, I would have expected much better. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return.
I took my friend here to celebrate her birthday but I was a bit disappointed. The tea was great but the food was just okay, its definitely overpriced for the fact that you are just getting tea and snacks. The waiters were lovely though.
Clearly some management issues
We had a truly lovely experience at Doja! We celebrated grandma's birthday and enjoyed the tea, food, and the atmosphere. We would highly recommend Doja!
