we've been coming here for 20 years. came here last night for a family graduation dinner for our son. l ordered steak teriyaki Medium well and got fully cooked steak so much that it was burnt. all the other food was great. but l told the waitress and although l didn't eat that overcooked and overpriced steak we were charged for it. We won't be back again anytime soon. This is the 3rd & final time l got disappointed there. Prices went WAY up and service is awful. Waitress clearly didn't speak good English. Sorry

I had the unfortunate experience of dining at this hibachi Japanese restaurant with a party of ten, and I feel compelled to share what was one of the worst customer service encounters I have ever had.
Despite having a reservation, the moment we were seated, the service was immediately subpar. The server who approached us was not only dismissive but also downright rude when taking our drink orders. His demeanor was cold and unwelcoming, as if we were inconveniencing him by simply being there.
When I politely asked if we could have a different server due to his attitude, both he and another staff member openly laughed at our table in their language. It was incredibly unprofessional and humiliating, especially in front of a large group.
Hoping to resolve the situation respectfully, I asked to speak with the manager. Unfortunately, that only made things worse. The manager was visibly distracted, standing there on her phone, and when she finally acknowledged me, she appeared completely indifferent. She didn’t apologize, offer assistance, or even show basic professionalism. Instead, she gave me a blank stare as if to say, “What do you want me to do?”—completely disregarding the seriousness of the situation.
At that point, we made the decision to leave, and thank goodness we did. We took our business to Bethlehem Hachi & Japanese Steakhouse and let me tell you, it was the best decision we could’ve made. The service there was the complete opposite: respectful, attentive, and everything this place lacked.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this establishment deserves to be called out for its appalling customer service. I would strongly advise others to avoid this restaurant. If you value basic respect and professionalism, this is not the place for you.

I always love A1. The performance is always great. The food is delicious the atmosphere is pretty. I am just not a huge fan of some of the servers. They tend to give you an attitude if you ask for things.

So this is usually our favorite place but.... yesterday afternoon we were charged 20% gratuity for 2 people dining In 😱 our food went from the usual 60$ to 80$… this was the first time in years this happened to us. We get the same things every time!! Don’t get me wrong the food is always good but when expecting the usual price and get hit with a 83$ check… yikes

This place has terrible service, if you have an issue with your food you'll have to fight for it to be resolved. I received food with a hair in it. I called and was told they would replace it. When I came back for a replacement meal the lady said it wasnt in the system so I must have gotten it. I had to fight with her for her to keep her word. She was calling me a liar by saying I already got the food. I spent so much money here and will not be back since they don't take accountability for their errors. Horrible customer service!!!

I've visited A1 Japanese Steakhouse a few times over the years and typically stick to the hibachi side, but tonight, my wife and I decided to try the regular dining area. We started by sharing the Scorpion drink, which was fantastic—my wife especially loved the dramatic fire in the center. For dinner, she ordered the hibachi steak and shrimp while I opted for the aptly named Fantastic Roll and Shrimp Yaki Udon. Everything was incredibly flavorful, and the experience left me eager to return to try the hibachi grill again.
