My wife was vegan for almost 3 years. I say 'was' because a few weeks ago we went and grabbed dinner there. I got the fried chicken and she got the beyond burger. She enjoyed it, but the smell of the fried chicken kept wafting over her way. Soon enough she was giving the chicken bedroom eyes. She could only hold out so long. It was like the telltale heart, taunting her thoughts everytime i would ask what she wanted for dinner. Finally she gave in to the inevitable. We went again last night and she was freed from her meatless chains. Best fried chicken we have ever had. 15/10, will be getting again.

We had the 4 piece fried chicken, Carolina pulled pork sandwich, mac and cheese, dirty rice, and collard greens. Everything was fantastic! I would even say best mac and cheese and fried chicken in Lehigh Valley.

The food isn’t bad. But I wouldn’t say it’s soul food. I didn’t find ANY flavor in the fried chicken or Mac and cheese. Disappointing for a place labeled as a soul food place, and it’s too expensive to be this bland. Not worth it imo ?

Not the style we're used to, but so good! The mac and the cheese curds were super cheesy. The maple mashed yams were delicious, and the coleslaw really evens out the flavor of the pulled pork. Definitely recommend if you're in the area, just a fun experience and lots of choices!

It’s a bit hard to fully review this place as I had hits and misses. I came in and ordered the shredded chicken sandwich. The taste was really good but I had a few of the chicken bones mixed with the meat. I can say it was definitely slow cooked because they shattered easily as i was biting into the sandwich. The bad part was getting a bunch of bone shards at that point. It happened on two separate bites and I wasn’t able to eat it from that point. The taste was great though. The ginger slaw goes really well with it. I also got two sides of cornbread but only received one. It didn’t come with butter or honey which it kind of needed. It was a little overdone. However the taste was good. I really enjoyed the jalapeños in it. Overall mixed reviews

Everything was bland. No type of seasoning at all and they forgot my mac and cheese. I thought I was ordering soul food ??? I should’ve known when I walked in to pick up my food there were Yt people up front. I had to throw everything away ! Waste of my $40

This place is horrific. 2 guys working today complaining about the owner or manager, JD? And what a dick he is. Wouldn't take my order. Made me do it by QR while I was standing there. Horrible demeanor and service.

I was there and got some fried chicken. Although the flavor of the chicken was really good. The smaller pieces were excellent. The thigh and the breast were very greasy.

Portions are very small for the price. The prices are very expensive and I don't think that they are very competitive when it comes to price, portions and taste. I would've given no stars if I could. There are many more options in this neighborhood when it comes to quality and price. I try to support our African American businesses but this is one that I will no longer support.

Loved Zacharys in Norristown and I’m so glad they opened in Allentown. Jambalaya, fried chicken, and Mac and cheese were my favorites and they’re still just as good in Allentown! Great quality and something more exciting for dinner!

According to the website, Zachary's was open until 8:00 and there was free parking in the Arts Walk parking deck. Neither were true. I had been really happy to read the newspaper article about Zachary's opening, and we'd really been looking forward to trying it. Our chance came last night when we finally got our whole family together, so with a big takeout order in mind, I parked in the Arts Walk deck and got there at about 5:30 only to find Zachary's closed. The Korean place, the Italian place, and the sushi place were all open, but not Zachary's. And I had to pay to park... and the parking deck requires you pay for parking with a credit card which caused another problem which is beyond the scope of this review. All around, it was an unpleasant experience and we didn't even get to try Zachary's fried chicken.:-(I see that the folks at Zachary's BBQ replied, and I am adding a photo (actually a screenshot of the website), that shows clearly that the hours for Wednesday are til 8:00 p.m. We first thought about coming on Monday, but saw on the website that it closed at 3:00. Tuesday was closed til 3:00 as well, so we set our sights on Wednesday which escalated our disappointment because we had been anticipating the taste of delicious fried chicken all week. So to set the record straight, the website does indeed list that you are open til 8:00 on Wednesdays. So there is no need to post a patronizing reply to this addition to my review, I'd rather see you get the website fixed to avoid confusion. Then you don't need to apologize for the confusion, you can prevent it.
