TRAX INN is a “hidden gem”on a dead end street in Ambridge, Pennsylvania.
At its inception, the motor hotel and restaurant serviced ConRail and Norfolk Southern Railroad employees. The railroad booked all 60 rooms, every night and the restaurant kept the railroaders fed.
Today, the facility is privately operated and has survived economic downturns by providing excellent service.
The cook, Richard, has no problem customizing food orders, including meals that are not on the menu.
My Cheeseburger today was Singapore Style Sunnyside-Egg,
Mushrooms, onions and bell peppers sautéed in butter. Swiss Cheese and a perfectly cooked and seasoned hamburger patty, on a sesame seed bun, accompanied by fried mushrooms and horseradish sauce.
Chinna always serves us with a smile.
It's a cheap and cheerful diner that stays open late, serves breakfast all day, and is very reasonably priced. The burgers are not bad and the fries are good.
First time here and was pleasantly surprised. There was plenty of seating, The service was quick, and their food was excellent. It's your typical diner fare with egg, bacon, home fry or hash browns, that you can order in a variety of combos or their special which we got was a bowl. Everything was cooked perfectly, and their corn beef hash was also very good. Bill for two of us was around $35+Tip. The sausage Biscuits and Gravy, something I order at every breakfast spot was huge! You won't leave here hungry. The location is a lil hidden, but go thru a parking lot and connected to Ambridge Inn Hotel you'll find this wonderful diner.
Chinna was very kind and cooked us up some good burgers, an omelette and a chicken wrap!
Don't be fooled by its appearance - this little diner has DELICIOUS food at good prices. My Philly-native friend said his cheesesteak was the best he's had in the western half of PA, and the Yuengling fried fish is the best I've had in many years (sooo crispy, and no bad aftertaste)! Will definitely be back. Thank you!
Cool hidden place off the main road. Went here on the coldest day of the year (-7). Service was great. Had a good omelette and the pancake was really good and massive. Menu has some good options. Other than the guy using Siri to diagnose himself with herpes in the other booth, overall good experience.
Good coffee
