I was disappointed in the overall experience, as well as the wine itself. I love dry wines (do not prefer semi sweet or sweet wines at all) and have been on wine tours in France, Napa and Sanoma. I also recognize that PA wine will be different than those regions of the world - and I can appreciate the differences that inherently come from different regions. However, this wine was not even palpable and they say they import all of their grapes from Washington (they do not grow their own grapes). This is a fine approach, but there must be something off in their processing of these grapes. Our group did the custom tasting for which we paid $25 per person and all of us had to agree on the same 6 wines to taste. This price point is so high for the area and the quality - you can pay $9 for a tasting of 5 wines at surrounding wineries (and their wines are much more pleasing to drink). The smell of the wines were horrid and none of us could stomach more than 1-2 sips of each. Had I not asked for water, the wines would have just been served in the glass with residual wine from the previous tasting. Despite these efforts, each wine still fell beyond short of our expectations. Outside of the wine being absolutely horrid - let’s talk about the facility itself - it is not well kept. There were swarms (and I mean many swarms) or gnats throughout the interior of the building. They even provided wine glass covers to guests at the bar to prevent these gnats from entering their drinks. For this reason, we decided to sit outside. We were seated at a table with a closed umbrella - and since it was sunny, we opened it. There were several large spiders with many established spider nests inside and the smell was rank upon opening it. Instead of helping us find another table to sit at, the staff giggled about this and continued to pour the next tasting. The description of the wines from the staff also left a lot to be desired with little knowledge of how the wine was made or actual tasting notes. I wish I was writing a 5 star review, as I had such high hopes based on the research I did ahead of time about the winery and their process, along with the many stellar reviews. Unfortunately, it just didn’t meet the mark on any level.
It was ok. They serve mostly drier wines. They give tours of the place and have limited small plate options
It is unclear to me why these ratings are so high - we made a reservation but when we arrived they were not sure if they had room for us and seemed to have no idea about the reservation. While we fought off the swarm gnats that were everywhere in the interior of the winery they told us we could do our “private tasting” at an outside table. We were then told we all had to pick the same wines to taste, despite our varying palates.
The wine, if you can call it that, was not good. Some of it was described as “waxy” and “cheesy” which made it unappealing and upon tasting it confirmed the fact that it was
unappealing. There was no offer to rinse the wine glasses out between tastings, we did it ourselves. Although there was no point because again, the wine was atrocious. Will not return.
For me, they are making the hands down, no doubt, without question, BEST wines in Pennsylvania.
This place is the perfect combination of wonderful, friendly people, along with creative and serious winemakers, backed by owners who are committed to their employees and customers. They are about making GREAT wines in the French style.
If you enjoy sweet wines, you might find that you will be challenged to expand your palate. Trust me; it is a challenge worth taking.
The educational journey that you can take here is at the core of what they stand for. They are passionate about making and sharing great wines in the French style. They have opened our eyes to the art and science of winemaking and heightened our appreciation of truly great wine.
10/10.
It is JUST. THAT. GOOD.
Our favorite vineyard. Wish it was closer. When convient, I use the $15 shipping.
Lovely venue and excellent wine!
So pretentious and overpriced go to Galen Glenn so much better why are you so insulting to your patrons and pretentious about the wine
A favorite, peaceful, fun and engaging day-trip of ours. Relaxing, great setting and sights, with delicious wines expertly crafted. This is my standard for what a winery should be.
Just a great afternoon with family and friends and good wines.
Where to begin?! Life is too short to drink bad wine, in comes Cellar Beast. They are passionate, artistic visionaries, creating breathtaking wines. Whether you are craving a chill Friday night with some music, a perfectly paired dinner event, or an exceptional tasting experience, CB is the place to be. We have learned so much from all the Beast family members and are beyond blessed to be Wine Club members and Private Reserve members. We highly recommend a visit; you will not regret it! Cheers!

This place is amazing. The staff is superb and they all know there wine. It's never about having a glass of wine, its always an adventure. Love this place and there wine.
WOW! What a gem. So glad we found this winery. The time, detail and love put into what they makes shows! Not only in how great their wines are, but in their presentation and service when you visit them. Aaron was an excellent guide in our tasting of their glorious collection. Can't wait to visit them again.
I give Cellar Beast a 10/10! When my husband and I got there on Saturday, it was pretty busy, however, we were taken care of in a timely manner! We did the highest tasting where you get to taste all 12 of their wines! Matt, the head winemaker, was our guide and he did a phenomenal job explaining the wines and why he uses the process he does to make them! They only have dry wines and I am typically a semi-sweet or sweet wine lover, but I did not find a wine I didn't like! It was hard to pick a favorite because all of their wines are really that good! My husband and I joined their wine club and will definitely be back soon! We ordered the cheese board as well, which was beautiful and delicious! The atmosphere is very relaxed and all of the staff we encountered was friendly and helpful!
My wife and I had a fantastic visit visit yesterday. Every single wine they produce was out of this world. We had the pleasure of having their head winemaker Matt take care of us and we are grateful for the experience and knowledge he shared with us. It made the wine tasting experience one of a kind. I personally think this is a world class winery right here in Pennsylvania! Give them a visit and have a fantastic time!
Best wines in the state! Great experience today when my wife and I visited. The staff were friendly and welcoming especially the head winemaker Matt, they went out of their way to explain their wines to you in depth and really make you feel part of the Cellar Beast family. The wine and cheese board were out of this world. We did the top level tasting and by far best experience we have had at any winery. All of their wines are dry so it was right up my road. I would highly recommend visiting when you get the chance!
