Great for a midweek date. Food is very good. I enjoyed my appetizer (the burrata --delicious and with eye appeal) more than dinner (Chicken Florentino --good but could have used some imagination). The mussels appetizer was excellent and the veal parmesan is always to perfection. Service was friendly and familiar; our server knows how to "read" her guests. The atmosphere is plain, no frills, not the type of place you want for a romantic night out; but definitely worth popping in with family and friends, or for a treat midweek.

We used to go to Gennaro's weekly when it first opened and we lived close by. We have since moved and it fell off our radar. We chose to go back when meeting friends for dinner. What was I thinking when we stopped going?? The decor was cozy and welcoming. I felt like I was back home. We went on a packed Friday night and were seated right at our reservation time. Our server was pleasant and attentive. We were a fairly large group so it took a minute to decide what we were getting. Our multiple appetizers included the fried calamari, sautéed calamari, and the burrata. They were all good but I am still dreaming about the sautéed calamari. It was tender and melt in your mouth. Do not miss this appetizer when you go. Our main courses included the lasagna, gnocchi, the special risotto, cannelloni, and chicken parmesan. We all enjoyed our meals very much so much so that only one picture was taken. The chicken parmesan was amazing. It was so much that I had it for dinner that night plus 2 additional lunches. We were too full for dessert but will definitely be back.

Ariano's has been my go-to Italian restaurant in the area for years but Gennaro's might have bumped them outta my top spot! I ordered the Rigatoni Vodka with chicken cutlet and the Tiramisu for dessert and I'm already looking forward to my leftovers. The dishes came out quickly and were hot and delicious from the first bite to last. I had to stop myself from eating the whole plate so I'd have leftovers. I can't wait to bring my GF and parents back!
