This place has gone downhill. I don’t know if the original owners sold but the place is empty. They had no wine or cocktails, the pizza was cold, they were out of fresh tomato pizza, and our antipasto was served after we finished our pizza. They even ran out of take out containers. I don’t think we’ll be returning and we were regulars. Very sad.

Colarusso’s Café has always been a favorite of ours. When we lived in the area 20 years ago, we went often for both lunch and dinner. It’s a cozy Italian restaurant with a true hometown feel, and everything on the menu is excellent. The pizza has always been our favorite, so on a recent visit back we stopped in for a tray, it was just as good as we remembered! Warm atmosphere, friendly service, and food that never disappoints.

Waited over an hour to pick up 3 hoagies after the pick up time. Opened the Italian hoagie and it looked like a veggie hoagie.
2 pieces of meat and no cheese. The other 2 hot hoagies were all bread. I've never been so disappointed. Hoagies from convenience store would've been better. Do your self a favor and stay away from this sadly run and cheap place of a restaurant.

Oh my God! I don’t know where to start! This place is so weird and terrible! Our waitress was fantastic, until she came to fill our glasses with more water…the pitcher of water had a fly in it, and she didn’t even flinch! We ordered a pizza, who can screw that up? calarussos can! It had the appearance of being pizza, and the illusion of being fresh and hot. Upon first disgusting bite, it was like an old dirty crouton had been enlarged, flatten out and covered with something red to resemble sauce, and guess what? IT WAS COLD! No idea how a restuaraunt could master such mystery! The whole experience was absolute insanity! So gross! So super duper gross!

I have been coming to this restaurant since I was 12 years old. It seems like it has gone down hill after new ownership took over. My wife and I agreed would be the last time we would come to this establishment. We have never felt so uncomfortable being in Colarussio’s Cafe’ in Avoca. We always talked this location up to everyone. We witnessed the employees yelling/cursing at each other to the kitchen staff drinking alcohol in the main seating area. My wife was stared at by a person who was looked suspicious. Maybe they were just hanging out and then just randomly walked into the kitchen(Not something I have ever seen over the years). We also noticed the decline in the amount of people on a Saturday at 4p when it used to start getting busy by this time. This place used to be family friendly. It’s such a shame that all the good old places are going away and being taken over by people that seem not to care anymore.

Chef and owner Mario Colarusso has a stuffed eggplant parmesan on the menu that is off the charts with flavor, texture, and oral experience. I am an eggplant snob and rarely find exquisite eggplant at small town restaurants. But please rest assured that Mario’s eggplant does not disappoint!!! I highly recommend this dish if you are in Avoca, PA.

Ordered from door Dash and dinners were very good but didn’t get bread with dinners. And got 6 cuts of pizza that was ice cold but the dinners were steaming hot. Guess kitchen help doesn’t know how to time orders to be done at same time not have pizza done way before.

Pizza is always the best here... white...red...white with tomatoes...since the new management took over the wait times have been longer... draft beer, there was something amiss as it didn't taste right...we will see where this goes... hopefully they keep up the good pizza

Colorussos Cafe in Avoca, PA has always been a go to spot for Pizza in my family. While the prices may seem somewhat higher than usual, you certainly receive high quality food and service. The broccoli cheddar pizza is my go to dish here. Thank you for exceptional food and service. -Ryan
