A step back in time features a quaint location and decor. The cabinetry is as it has been for decades and generations. The work area features a coal fired oven in the basement. The counter service is friendly and warm. The baker's style donuts are very good and not like franchise places. These are different enough to try especially favorites for us are the french creme donuts and Lafayettes. None of the pastries or donuts are like the big donut places. Buy a few to try 'em first. We like 'em and return when we can. The bread and Polish Paczki, seasonal during Lent, are also very good. Nut rolls for the holidays. Events custom cakes, chocolate is our favorite. Along our way to our grandson’s birthday trip, I learned we had no birthday cake ordered. We stopped for lunch and I called here asking for a birthday cake frosted and decorated within the hour. They had one chocolate layer cake that they frosted and decorated in the requested colors and we picked it up within an hour. My grandson was pleased with the look of it and then we tasted it… it was really delicious! I’m not usually a fan of chocolate cake; probably because they didn’t taste like this. We really enjoyed it!
