I recently hosted my book club here for lunch and all of us had a great time. Our waitress was friendly, helpful, and was able to handle our large group (all with separate checks) with great efficiency. Everyone in the group was very happy and satisfied with their order, as this restaurant serves only handmade foods (everything is handmade from the coleslaw to the meatloaf, you can taste the effort it is made with). An ordinary, average and would have been an unmemorable lunch hadn’t it been for the reaction of the server when I attempted to pay the bill with a debit card. When I asked the server how someone dining with them for the first time would know about their cash only policy the response was that’s just how it is. There is no visible signage upon entering, no footnote on the menu nor a heads-up from the server.
This feels like one of the best kept secrets in Pittsburgh. The food and service are always excellent. We usually eat in, but tonight we ordered take-out because we had family visiting. We ordered ten individual meals that had various sides etc. The take out order was absolutely correct and packed very nicely for transport including each container wrapped in plastic wrap and complete with boxes to transport the meals. I can’t say enough good things about this local establishment....
