I was in the area visiting Ricketts Glen State Park and after leaving decided to stop by Red Rock Scoop to cool off with some good ole ice cream. Now before I begin this review I want to tell you about my background in ice cream. My father, from Stowe, Pa whose address was 564 E. Howard Street, was an ice cream man. He operated two trucks and inside those trucks he also sold pizza from the custom made ovens inside of the trucks. I came out of the womb with him having two trucks and I’ll be 54 on July 31st 2024. He retired in 1991 when I was 21. Meaning my father sold ice cream in from the late 60’s until 1991. The only thing I know better than ice cream is music/entertainment. So when I write a review about an ice cream shop/parlor, you can best believe the words I speak. As for Red Rock Scoop, he is what I think about it. I ordered their banana split. Their price was a lot cheaper than getting it from Mr. Softee. Whose splits may run anywhere between $12-$15. Together with a sundae for my lady friend, my bill was $9. Yes, $9 for a split and a sundae. As mentioned I got the split and before I had it in my hand, I noticed there wasn’t any peanuts of whipped cream on my split. So I kindly asked the young man if he could add those two toppings to my split. He obliged and all was well. It was extremely hot out that day, so I dove right in and didn’t take any photos. To my surprise, soft ice cream was used to make this split. There was nothing amazing about it. Softer ice cream is far less creamier than hard ice cream. To me, this was nothing more than a cheaper Mr. Softee banana split. I truly believe soft serve ice cream not only takes away from the essence of things. I don’t know why many choose this route, but there aren’t many ice cream shops around any longer which is why I frown upon those that only serve soft ice cream. It’s ok to sell it, buy in my opinion, hard ice cream should be sold as well. My lady friend devoured her sundae so I’m going to conclude that it was rather tasty. I forgot why flavor she got, but it disappeared very fast. With that in mind, my dislike of soft ice cream has no bearing on this review. The ice cream was tasty, it served it purpose and overall there wasn’t any complaints from my lady friend or I. There is better ice cream in Benton, Pa. I’ve been visiting since 2012. I may never patronize this business again, but that doesn’t mean YOU shouldn’t. My name, BigDaveIsFat says it all. “Get Ya Grub On!”
Kid-friendliness: It’s ice cream for crying out loud!

It got one star because we waited so long we ended up leaving and didn't get to try the ice cream. There were 3 people working who looked confused and didn't know what they were doing. The ice cream shop in Benton is way faster and way more affordable. Wouldn't recommend and won't be going back.

The girl that waited on me was rude and ignored me. When I got her attention i got a Large smores Sundae. when I got it, it was basically plain vanilla with a garnish of Graham cracker. I dont know about anyone else but i want more than a singular piece of graham cracker on my sundae. And it was a mess when it was handed to me. The sides of the dish were soaked with vanilla ice cream. And i was told it was "a little messy". It was also dead and not busy at all. So theirs no reason why my Sundae if you even wanna call it that, was that messy.

We stopped in here for ice cream cones. There twist flavor is amazing! There are little chocolate speckles in the chocolate ice cream which gets it extra flavor. Their service was fast, the servings were good proportion, and the price was fair. They don’t try to rip u off just because of their location. Highly recommended!!!
Parking: There’s not a ton of parking but it works.

Stopped on our way home from Towanda to Bucks County. It was busy but not crowded cause service was fast and efficient. We both got soft serve ice cream cones, which were really, really good. Thick and creamy cones at a great price. We are frequent visitors of Dairy Queen but this is even better. We will be back.

My wife and I stood there for 10 minutes while a woman and a young girl stood behind the window. The woman talked to the teenagers in front of us and completely ignored us while the young girl stood at the second window without even looking at us or saying a word. LITERALLY as soon as we walk away, the young girl goes to people standing behind us and asks "how can I help you?" Absolute abhorrent customer service. I'm not saying this is the case, but it's awfully coincidental that my wife was the only black person there. Just saying.

This is such a cool stop for a scoop! Right next to the Lake Jean and Ricketts glen entrances. Try their cookie ice cream sandwiches. They’re massive and delish! 5/5
