I have been a regular customer of Burchrunville (every 3-4 months or so) for years and have never had an issue with the food, wait staff, or atmosphere there. The quality of everything is worth every dollar. I refuse to spend money on ordinary food and this place does not even come close to ordinary.

An extremely nice little romantic dinner restaurant. They also have outstanding food choices with a menu that changes weekly. I had a lamb fish that was fixed to perfection. Recommended.

This is the best BYOB restaurant in all of Pennsylvania. The chef is truly a genius. Everything we order is absolutely phenomenal. The food is transcendental.

I had a dining experience at this restaurant on December 13, 2025. Below is my review, along with suggestions for improving both the food and the restaurant’s operations.
We started with appetizers, which were excellent in terms of flavor. We ordered the crabcake and the burrata salad, both of which were very enjoyable. However, there was a significant issue with the salad. The menu description stated that it included figs, but none were present when the dish was served. When we asked our server, she confirmed—and apologized—that the restaurant had run out of figs.
While I appreciated the apology, this is something that should have been communicated proactively before the dish was served, not discovered by the customer mid-meal. This appears to be a lapse in management responsibility.
For the main courses, I ordered the pork chop (~$43), and my wife ordered the red snapper. The red snapper was cooked well and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the pork chop was noticeably too salty. Although I chose not to return it and finished most of the dish, the saltiness lingered for hours afterward, suggesting it was significantly over-seasoned. Given the price point, it did not meet expectations. I am generally tolerant and understand how demanding kitchen work can be, but for a restaurant of this reputation, consistency in main dishes is essential.
Dessert was a highlight. We had the chocolate lava cake and the chocolate mousse—both were excellent, well-balanced, and not overly sweet.
Overall, we enjoyed the atmosphere and service. The staff were kind and attentive, and we were celebrating our anniversary. We appreciated the thoughtful gesture of adding a candle to our dessert, which made the evening feel special.
For a reservation-only restaurant with a strong reputation and premium pricing, the quality of the main dishes did not meet my expectations. We’ve been an occasional customer to the pastry shop, but not so sure whether we will return to the restaurant.

Based on reviews, I was very disappointed with service and I’m shocked this “okay” place takes months to get into. It took a bit of time to be greeted, didn’t think much of it, the waitress (Carolyn B) apologized, but then we order, get our meals, there’s zero check ins about the meal, ZERO refills of water despite a 2 hour reservation, we had to flag someone down to uncork our bottle (our waitress comes over and spills the bottle, says “did you see me bleed everywhere” and is tripping on the floor; appears impaired herself), and they took the cork with them so when we did not finish ours, and asked for a cork, the waitress (not “Carolyn”, maybe some food runner) seemed shocked and confused by the request. They return with SOMEONE ELSE’S CORK?! And shove it in our bottle? Am I in the dark here? Do BYOB places now remove your cork and expect you to bring one from home if you don’t finish bottles at a time? we were on our second bottle, obviously not intending to finish 2 at dinner. Carolyn eventually returned, took our plates and then came back in a few minutes, placed dessert menus and walked away with no “here are our dessert options if you’re interested” sort of comment, walked away; and came back expecting an order. I noticed even the table to our right of 5 said “i think she wants us to leave but I don’t understand what other table is coming in at 10pm” In any other restaurant I wouldn’t have thought twice about the service but for a place that takes months to get a Resy, boasts delicious and unique foods, you’d think the service staff would match the level of cuisine and offer exceptional care and not wear a black T shirt and leggings as a uniform. I think I’d get the same level of service, if not better, at an Applebees or a Seasons 52. It’s fine. I’d come back for like, a high school graduation meal at most but this is in no way worth the hype. Atmosphere is a 90’s Tuscan kitchen, I’m indifferent about it, feels cozy.

I can absolutely see why Birchrunville Café books out months in advance! I’ve been following them online for ages without having been, and it paid off when we lucked into a last-minute Saturday night reservation. It turned out to be one of the best dining experiences my husband and I have had in a long time.
The food was incredible, the service exceptional, and the atmosphere was cozy and charming, it truly didn’t disappoint. We’d happily order everything we had all over again, though the menu changes often, which just makes us even more excited to come back and try the newest creations. Here’s hoping we can snag another reservation soon!

Have been trying to get a table here for years and they did not disappoint
I was here for a wedding and reception and it was absolutely the best meal I have ever had at a wedding. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere very quaint.
Excellent
Great food. Gets loud sometimes but the food is worth it! Servers are great as well.
