This is a lovely restaurant, the reviews were good, and the menu had a lot of appealing options. We had high hopes for a somewhat elevated dining experience in this general area. The service was warm & friendly. I ordered the Seafood Risotto which was neither really seafood nor risotto, and it must be mentioned was priced at $44. It was described on the menu as "Scallops, tiger shrimp and lobster claw meat served over house made risotto." The dish placed in front of me had a mound of goopy tasteless yellow rice (reminiscent of from a package), that was topped with 6 small-medium sized shrimp and 3 scallops, and a very large handful of water cress (this was the kitchen's go-to garnish for everything we ordered). All the seafood was seasoned with some cajun-type seasoning, and then sauteed to within an inch of its life, very dry and chewy. As I was eating it, I tried to remember why it had sounded exciting - and realized there was NO LOBSTER CLAW MEAT AT ALL!!! There was nothing about the dish, either the individual elements or overall, that was tasty. I never enjoy making a "thing" in restaurants over food or service - I did mention to the hostess that there was no sign of lobster claw meat, after having confirmed that was what the menu said. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

My wife and daughter were passing through on our way to Penn State Altoona and stopped by for a sit down dinner. We had a wonderful time. The food and drinks were amazing. Our waitress who is from Ecuador was pleasant and friendly to talk to and she gave us some nice/positive feedback on the local university. All in all a little gem in PA. Too bad so far from Jersey - otherwise we would become regulars. Carlos Jill y Emilia

Great service and delicious food! Perfect place for a date night! The chef even came out to greet us. We had the Sea Bass and Stroganoff and both were fantastic! Tasty cocktails - the Smores Old Fashioned was the best!

I Always stop at LaMalbec when in Bloom! The food, atmosphere and drinks are top notch! Came for brunch this time and really enjoyed the mimosa flight and mushroom crepes! The owners are so nice and make you feel so welcome along with Diane the hostess and Renee our server! Make sure to stop by next time you want a great meal!! And my daughter and I really appreciate that they have many vegetarian choices available!!

Been to LA Malbec restaurant on 4 occasions. None of these occasions have been worth the price and the last time, 2/12/24, was the worst. Bar only had a limited options, the service was slow and inattentive and the meal was under

I love La Malbec !La Malbec holds a special place in my heart as my favorite spot in central PA. The service is impeccable, with warm smiles greeting you at every visit. The chef's personal touch, stepping out to ensure everything is perfect, adds to the experience. And let's not forget the bartenders' skill in crafting the most delicious cocktails – their Old Fashioneds and the Bloody Mary are amazing ! This gem of a restaurant never fails to impress, offering an atmosphere you won't find elsewhere in central PA. Keep up the fantastic work !!

Disappointing. We were rudely interrupted upon arriving by a woman who put her finger up at us as we were introducing ourselves and were told to wait while she yelled about tables to the person who ended up being our server. Same woman refilled our water glasses and spilled it all over the table. No apologies or offerings of napkins to help clean up the mess. We were on top of the tables next to us. About a foot separated us. You could not comfortably get in or out of the booth without disrupting your neighbors. I had to send my food back (which they did remake and take off the bill). Service was slooooow. We were there for 3 hours. Menu differed from what was online. Less vegetarian options than what I thought. Overall just not worth the $100+ price tag. Cocktail was my favorite part of the evening. Not impressed. Wish I would I would have spent the money elsewhere.

This was our 3rd time at the restaurant. The food is pretty consistent and delicious. Tonight was equal to previous experiences, however the hostess was completely rude from the time we entered until we left. She cast a negative shadow on what would be an otherwise excellent night.
