BCB is a gift to the Centre Region. Between the beautiful building, the exceptional beer (with actual choices for those of us that don’t love an IPA), the extremely knowledgable and friendly staff, and the fantastic live music, it’s easily one of my favorite places to be. The one-star reviews from parents who expect the staff and other patrons to be ok with their kids chasing each other, kicking balls, and throwing rocks in the dry creek that they’re not supposed to be in...
I liked it … a lot. Probably the best consistent use of lager yeasts for 50-100 square miles. Service is charming, professional, and knowledgeable. Quiet neighbors since you’re adjacent to a cemetery, which is more peaceful than, say, creepy. They’re not exactly giving the beer away, but the prices do correspond to the quality, in my opinion.
Boal City Brewing is easily one of my favorite spots in State College. The indoor tasting room is spacious, well-decorated, and has a laid-back vibe. Outside, the grounds are beautiful, with plenty of seating wrapped around most of the building—perfect for a nice day.
