The Strawberry short cake here is the undisputed champ! Also, the Kandy cakes are amazing. And the pierogis? OMG, the best I have ever had. It’s a small business, so don’t expect them to have everything every time you go. But if you call and order ahead you will not be disappointed.

My family used to call this bakery “The Crabby Woman Bakery” back in the 1980s. That’s because at least one the regular women who worked behind the counter was unusually crabby. I used to ask my parents to pick up a birthday cake that I had ordered ( or for whatever occasion) and I would cook the dinner for my extended family.
My dad would arrive with the cake, but he always seemed a little unhappy. One day, I asked him why. He told me “whenever you send me to that bakery, I always tell the woman behind the counter that I am picking up a cake that my daughter ordered. I give the woman your last name…..she becomes irritated and asks “I need to know the size of the cake and the cake and icing flavors”. When he admitted that the only thing he knew was the last name, the woman would become very annoyed. This should be a short pit stop always turned into a very long process. The bakery woman would always figure out which cake was mine but it took a lot of time and many questions. Eventually, my dad changed the bakery name to “The Crabby Woman Bakery” and that’s what my family ( and friends) called it for the Emanuel years.
The baked goods are all AWESOME. Especially the sour cream cookies and strawberr6 shortcake!

The woman who runs the store in Chichester is the most rude ignorant person I've ever encountered in any store. The store is never open even during the times listed on the door . My first actual visit was the other day. If you're staff is as rude as the woman in Chichester i have no interest in patronizing any of your stores. Frankly she should be fired immediately. I went to the store in Brookhaven yesterday. What a world of difference. As soon as I entered i was greeted with a friendly Hello. I bought cake and apricot streusel. Which were delicious. The woman who waited on me was very friendly and considerate. Also i spoke to a very nice woman at the chester store. I will now go to brookaven or chester!

I purchased a poppyseed loaf last week. I'd say it's 80% loaf, 20% poppyseed, even in the center (if that). It's unbelievable how the quality of their baked goods has steadily dropped over the years.

Ordered a sheet pound cake for my daughter’s baptism and I have never gotten so many complaints on a cake before. The cake was crumbling like saw dust and tasted extremely dry as if it were a week old or even stale.
I purchase the cheesecake brownie and cookies. They were really good and tasted fresh. Can’t wait to go back and buy some
