I've been in 100s of Italian restaurants throughout the world and generally, the overseas Italian restaurants have better food. Except for one Italian restaurant in the SFO bay area, this is the best in the states. That's in the top 1%! It's a small restaurant, and I sometimes rushed, but I realize they need turnover to make ends meet.

I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews, but my boyfriend and I had reservations here for Valentines Day at 7:30. When we got there, I noticed the one fork had something on it, but we just switched it with a different one on the table and blew it off. We got waters right away and bread that was fresh out of the oven. We then proceeded to sit there for an hour and a half almost finishing a large bottle of wine. We decided at 9:00, it was time to go. The woman looked at us weird and when we explained, she looked visibly irritated and said “well you got here at 7:30…” which still doesn’t make sense because that’s when our reservation was for, it doesn’t mean it should take over an hour and a half to get our meals. It was packed when we got there and other people who got there after us got their meals first and were already leaving. Looking at other peoples plates, the food did look pretty good. Maybe this was just a one time thing.

Our organization had a private dinner in the upstairs room. Service was attentive and welcoming. The food is freshly prepared & very flavorful.Parking: Behind the building, entrance is either by alleyway or driveway next to restaurant ( left of building as you look at building).

the food was delicious. the service was prompt, and our server was friendly. the atmosphere was very cozy and intimate. one member of our party wasn't given the choice of which salad they'd like. the only complaint i have is that they were out of many things. they didn't have lasagna, meat ravioli, the only dessert in stock was tiramisu. but everything was very very good and prices were reasonable. i would return!

everything was so bad (except the server - she was super nice) but the food was bad, timing was terrible. the casear salad was lettuce, carrots, croutons, and casear dressing .. which is not an actual casear salad. bread was bad. my lasagna was mediocre and my husband’s chicken dish was awful. we had a 7 pm reservation and got our food at 8:30 pm. if it was out of this world food, we wouldn’t have been too upset, but like I said the food was not good. very underwhelming experience.

My wife and I went here for dinner tonight. This was our second time here. Our first visit was a nice experience. Tonight we were the only diners in the restaurant. The server who I believe is part owner, took our order. We ordered our dinner and appetizer. She brought out bread and our salad in less then 2 minutes after taking our order. It only went downhill from there. Our appetizer was brought out while we were just eating our salad. The bruschetta, is suppose to be on toasted bread. It was smeared on top of the same bread we just had brought to our table. Not toasted. Come on! If you have ever been to Italy you would know that dinner is to be enjoyed and not rushed. Then the kitchen help brought out our dinner and handed them to our server. My veal tasted like it was old and slightly going. However, while we were eating dinner the kitchen help who handed our dinners to the server then propped the bathroom door open and proceeded to scrub the toilet and sink and wipe up the floor. First of all this is not what I want to see as I eat my dinner. This is totally unacceptable. My biggest issue he did not wash his hands!!! He then took the bottle of 409 back to the kitchen and immediately came out and grabbed a rack of bar glasses to take to the kitchen. Following that he then proceeded to bring silverware out in his hand and restocked the silverware station. That was it. I was finished with my meal. I would have gotten desert and coffee. My wife and I are not germaphobes, but that was beyond belief. We will never come back to Dolce Vita again. To top it off the server was on the phone the entire time on speaker. I worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years as a server and trainer. This is just not okay. There is absolutely no excuse for any of this other than poor training and a lack of respect for customers
