I was in Carlisle Pennsylvania last year. I was staying around the corner. I’m from New York. One of my favorite foods is calzone - basically anything with mozzarella cheese. let me tell you, I walked in there and saw those enormous cheese balls filled with Mucho Mucho, mozzarella and fresh basil deep-fried - OMG

I visited Carlisle in late June, and stopped into Nonna Ilva’s Saturday the 28th to get a sandwich for dinner.

Later, while eating it back in my room, and not paying much attention to it, I became aware that I was really enjoying my sandwich. It seemed to melt in my mouth. “This is the best Italian sandwich I’ve ever tasted” I thought, and looked under the bread to see perhaps why. Pizza was alright. The crust was nice but sauce average. Would get again but not first choice. App items were not that great at all and would not get again. Disappointing that the restaurant had no real seating and felt like 100+ degree.
