I dropped a buck off at the Hungarian Smokehouse the second week of October to have the whole deer ground with pork added. I hadn’t taken a deer to the smokehouse in a few years and never had any issue with the previous owner. However, this time the ground meet was extremely course with huge pieces of tendons and fat in every package. I would have only gave one star, but had to give two since I was able to drop the deer off late in the evening. Hopefully the doe that I took there during rifle season isn’t the same way. If it is, I will not be going back.

Got a doe done here expected it to be fairly well packaged and made. Took a few days longer than they said which is not an issue but when it was finally done they could not find some of my deer. After waiting an 45min to an hour they finally found it and as soon as I got home I opened it up and all the meat from that doe was littered with fat and way more pork mixed than I asked. Probably the worst job I’ve seen coming from a smoke house. Any only 18lbs of meat is just sad where did it all go? Might as well just have done it myself. Just recently one of my family members took there cow up there and when we got it back it was littered with fat. They were nice but just sloppy in their work. I’m just being nice giving 3 stars.

These wonderful folks take care of my sheep, my pigs and cows! They always accommodate my schedule and walk me through the labyrinth of cuts. And their jerky! Out of this world. Looking for something savory, try the Hillbilly jerky!

The beef jerky was amazing! I tried the teriyaki and sweet n sassy,did not disappoint. You can taste the smoke without it being overbearing and the flavors were on-point. Will be back on my next time through! Thanks again y’all! -the tow truck driver

This place is a joke. We took my son buck here and we only got 20 lbs of meat. The deer its self was about 100 lbs. I ask them if that was all the deer and they said yes... so we end up paying 116 dollars for 20 lbs..DO NOT RECOMMEND

I'm only giving 1 star because 0 is not an option. This is pertaining to deer processing. I wouldn't go to the Hungarian Smokehouse in Carmichaels again if they paid me. I paid an additional $30 to cape my deer for a shoulder mount. They've had my deer since November 4th. I went to pick up today and the head was never frozen. In 18 days, today was my first phone call. Girl at front desk says. You could've picked the head up a day or two after drop off. Im sorry, Im not a mind reader. No one mentioned that at drop off. I never received a phone call so how the hell would I know that? I assumed you freakin morons work in a butcher shop and know that a cape needs frozen. The fact that you damn well know that I am getting a shoulder mount done. But you saw the head off and throw it on a concrete cooler floor for 18 days. No phone call, no text. I assume they were freezing the cape, being i was getting jerky and sausage made. Maybe they threw it in a feezer and want me to pick it all up at once? Nope, 18 days later show up to a $200 bill, a box of meat, a bag of jerky and a spolied deer head. This place is a total clown show!

Planned to make a meat haul back to Virginia today. Drove an hour out of my way to the shop. It was not open at 940 even though phone, Website and sign on the door said open at 9. Appeared to be people in back but none came to help. I must have poor luck, this was not the first time. Too bad , the meat is good.

You will pull up, get out of your car and want to vomit. I think they have some kind of septic issue and it smells, strongly, of sewage. This is right by the outdoor seating area. The jerky is overpriced and often almost too tough to chew. I also wasn't a huge fan of the meat sticks. For those to whom is matters, they use MSG. This could be a great little place... But it seems to have gone downhill in the past couple of years. I do appreciate that they are gun advocates.Also, we had party catered in 2021, we were told they would provide cutlery, so I didn't buy any. No cutlery, I am running around like a maniac trying to find enough forks to feed 40+ people. Was NOT happy about this.

I gave them a second chance after they failed to cure our bacon and our ham the previous year which they admitted to doing but made no effort to correct. The second chance, they turned our pig into sage and into hot Italian sausage against our requests. When brought to the attention of the owner, he replied: ‘I was busy and messed up. Is that what you wanted to hear?!?!”
