Island Barbeque and Catering

We had an event yesterday in Indiana, PA. The delivery and setup was excellent, folks raved about the quality of the menu. Zero complaints, would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I recently ordered catering from Island BBQ for our corporate event, and I couldn't be more pleased! We had pulled pork, smoked mac and cheese, and pulled chicken, and everything was a hit. The pulled pork was incredibly tender and packed with flavor, while the smoked mac and cheese was creamy and delicious—definitely a crowd favorite. The pulled chicken was perfectly seasoned and juicy. The presentation was excellent, and the team was professional and accommodating. I highly recommend Island BBQ for any event; they truly delivered an unforgettable dining experience!

BLUF:
-Food was good.

-Price was high.

-Packaging of the food for transfer was a total failure.

-Customer service was non-existent, they don't care about the customer, they just want paid while putting in the least amount of effort.

-I will not use them again.

Detailed Review:

The food was good. Price was on the higher end, but I was ok with it for the convenience. My issue was the poor manner in which the food was packaged in the cater boxes. The boxes were secured with ratchet straps, and no, we weren't jumping hills or mudding on the way to our event. The ride was as smooth as any average drive would be. When we opened the cater boxes up, the mac-n-cheese container failed, and had dumped all over the food below. Luckily, the baked beans and mashed potatoes were sealed enough to not get the runny man-n-cheese juice in them. I did call to tell The Island BBQ about this, hoping for some understanding and maybe a gesture of good faith in a free dinner coupon or $20 refund for the inconvenience. They didn't care at all! In fact, they thought I was calling to apologize for their cater boxes getting messy. The gravy on the top shelf in the box had a metal pan it sat on so it didn't collapse. When I asked why the other slots didn't get the same metal pan, they said "I try to put them under all the pans, but I was just so busy." They also said "The aluminum pans we buy are just getting thinner and thinner." I did see you can buy metal pans for about $10 a piece to put food in that fit the catering boxes. Maybe buy a bunch of those, charge folks a refundable deposit to ensure they come back with the boxes, and avoid the mess and agitated customers. Or if you just don't want to do the dishes, buy heavier grade aluminum pans.

My Uncle also tried discussing this with The Island BBQ when he dropped the catering boxes back off the next day, and they just gave him attitude, grabbed the boxes and walked away around the back of the building.

Discovered almost at the last minute at the end of a day of travel, we ordered by phone and arrived at the last minute to collect our order. Everything was delicious, in addition to the warm welcome received ?

The food is delicious and the saff is very friendly. I would recommend extra sauce for the burgers as they were lacking.

So happy to have a GREAT barbecue place in this town! I think Guy Fieri should visit this place. He would be impressed! The ribs are outstanding just like everything else I've tried on the menu so far. It's no wonder that this place is always hopping!

A great place for some bbq and ice cream! Get your food, sit down in the pavilion and look out over the landscape, let the kids run around and relax!

BBQ pulled pork was ok, could have used a little more sauce on it. Fries are good if they a fresh out of the fryer but if they set around under the heat lamps they are not very good.

You can tell it's the only BBQ place around. I really want to like this place but...The food is overcooked, reheated, dry and it really shows there's no competition here for good food and certainly no Q in the area. The sauces like "cherry chipotle" only have the word "chipotle" in the name but not the sauce. The original bbq sauce is smack in the face tomato paste based with a bit of thinning agent. The creole sauce is kinda like something you might find in the south but in a lazy "close enough" kinda way.
A mustard based something straight out of north florida. Brisket was obviously just re-heated (possibly microwaved) beef where any juices were long long long gone.

The smoked mac-n-cheese was probably the only thing that wasn't a genuine disappointment.

It's hard to tell if these guys really can Q because it's not coming out of the smoker on the same day you're eating it and however they reheat it, it just finishes the food like they've put in the microwave until it's well done.

Service was very good, very polite and quick.

This pains me because the area really could use some good alternatives for food but this feels like they're just mailing the cheque in knowing people will show up anyway. They're definitley not showing their love of BBQ here. I'm not saying they don't have it but certainly today was not the day it was shining through.

Kid-friendliness: They serve ice cream with a "kiosk" type outdoor walkup window type service and eating area.

Wheelchair accessibility: Kiosk type window service with a gravel parking lot. Wheelchair access is possible but not smooth roll up.

We ordered island BBQ catering for a 50 person event and it was FANTASTIC! Ordering and delivery was smooth and easy. The food was hot and delicious. Priced well. Highly recommend for any large event or just a meal on the weekend with the family.

Everything I ordered was outstanding. Also like to mention the girl behind the counter also offered to help carry all the food to my vehicle and was super friendly. Wonderful food and staff. Keep up the great business. will always be a repeat customer.

Wellworth any drive, hidden gem. The ribs are amazing, smokey and fall off the bone. I love the homemade cherry or pineapple BBQ sauce. Sweet potato fries are super duper delicious, thin cut and salty .yet sweet yum. Beans are delicious on the thick sweet side.

We got Island BBQ catering for our wedding and 10/10!!! Everything was amazing and the service was fantastic! Can not recommend it enough!!
