The service was fantastic. The food was very tasty although I did find my crabcake a little dry. The ambiance was great. It was quiet with low light and very relaxing. The attention to detail was top notch from the warm heated towels to begin the meal and the pallet cleanser sorbet. The food presentation was also exceptional. I highly recommend this place for any special occasion.
There appeared to be more reservations than the restaurant could handle. Our service for five was terrible. We had to get our own drinks at the bar and the bar was not busy. We also were not informed that there was a set menu for $60 per person when we made the reservation. It was extremely disappointing to pay $500 for this type of service. All our courses were served at different times, so some of us sat forever and watched other people eat. We normally enjoy this restaurant, so we took our kids here. Bad choice.
I ordered the prime rib. It was not hot. The crab dip was good but again was not hot. The waiter was nice. The ambiance is nice but could increase the heat a little bit because it was cold inside. I just didn't like that our food is not hot.

Ate here with a party of 16 as a reservation. They had a table set up with 10 seats that were packed together with limited table space. The rest of the guests sat behind us in booths, making conversation awkward. We ordered at 7:00pm and did not receive our food until about an hour and a half later. 2 entries and 2 sides were missed as the manager came out and asked “what are you missing.” Most of the food came out in 5-10 minute increments, not served at once. My haddock was slightly overcooked, but broccoli was great. Most of the other guests in my party had good feedback on the food, but service and organization was lacking tremendously. Clean atmosphere.

We went to The Orchards for our wedding rehearsal dinner. The food, drinks and service were all wonderful! The room was amazing and quiet.
I had come back to Shippensburg for homecoming and met someone at this restaurant. The is a big, beautiful restaurant. Very expensive restaurant and the food was average at best. They tacked on 3% charge if you used your credit card to pay. For the money I don't think that it was really worth it.
I can’t say enough good things about The Orchards / Relax! I’ve dined at their restaurant and sat at the bar in Relax, both experiences are top-notch. The food is always outstanding: creative, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Their drink menu is just as impressive!
But what really sets this place apart is the people. Every staff member I’ve encountered genuinely seems to care. They’re warm, attentive, and often go above and beyond to make you feel special.
I’ve celebrated my bridal shower, family baby showers, gender reveals, a family wedding, & rehearsal dinners, you name it. Every single event has been seamless, from room setup to timing, to food and service. They have an elegant yet comfortable feel that makes guests feel both impressed and relaxed.
If you’re in the Chambersburg area (or even beyond), The Orchards / Relax is a must-visit — whether for a casual dinner, a night out at the bar, or one of life’s big celebrations.

Dined there on 9/26/2025 as a member of a party of eight (8) in a private dining room.
I was likely a one-off, as the other seven in the party were mostly OK. I was disappointed:
- the waitress had a hard time finding enough menus for eight of us
- I recall four of us ordered sea bass
- my food (sea bass) arrived almost 10 minutes after all others in our party.
- One member did not receive a broccoli side.
- I’m certain there were overall issues, as another person (manager?) popped into the room to apologize for my food still not being ready, and for the missed broccoli side order
- what arrived for me appeared to be an effort to substitute a different cut of fish. It looked nothing like the other three orders. It was not a good sea bass, though the other three orders looked much better.
- Also the private dining room is across from the wine room. At that point of the hallway is also the collection point for waiters to stage dirty dishes.
So again, perhaps I was a one-off. But was disappointed overall. I’m not writing the review to discredit the establishment. But instead to help them maintain credibility. And help other customers identify issues quicker.

It was a wonderful meal. I loved everything about it. Very professional upscale feel. Love the hot hand towels. Service was great. Food was delicious.
The Orchard Restaurant is awesome. We dined in a private room celebrating my birthday and the food and service was exceptional. The appetizers of steamed clams and crab balls were delicious. We chose the crab lumps augratin and could not stop saying how great the dish was. For a fine dining experience, this is the place to come!
Our server, Doug, was perfectly attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Drinks were also great. We had Sea bass, sous vide chicken, Greek potatoes, salads, sautéed zucchini blend. All was perfectly portioned and cooked. We will be back.
We had dinner at the Orchards for our anniversary. The young man that was our waiter wished us a happy anniversary and was an excellent waiter. We received a free dessert of a sticky bun with vanilla ice cream and a small box of Zoe's chocolate. Very enjoyable evening. Thanks!
For our first time having dinner there we were pleasantly surprised. We really enjoyed ourselves. We will return.
