Nice local restaurant/bar that is a favorite of local residents. Food is good - price is reasonable - Clean!
We were looking for a place off I-70 on our trip east from Iowa. So glad we fou d this place. Wonderful service. The owner stopped by our table and conversed with us and made us feel very welcome. Everyone enjoyed their food and desserts. Will definitely remember this place if we're through again and highly recommend.
This place was recommended by the owner of the 5th Street Escape Room. It was my birthday and close by, so we decided to go. Parts of the town are great and revitalized, other parts aren't quite there yet, so we weren't sure how it would be. The restaurant was busy at around 6:15 on a Friday night so we were happy to see that. The food was wonderful and the service was excellent. My husband raved about the cheese ravioli. I loved the med. chicken and sweet potato fries were worth going off low carb for the meal. I had a delicious ganache caramel cheesecake and hubs had choco fudge cake. I ate most of mine because it's back to low carb today, but worth all the calories. We're about an hour away and will be back to the escape room and here for dinner.
River House Cafe catered my daughter's baby shower yesterday. What a perfect experience. Polite and helpful staff, from order to delivery! The food was amazing. Thank you so much for adding the perfect touch to such a wonderful family event.
The food here is out of this world. I had the 8 oz filet, which was done to perfection and practically melted in my mouth. The flame-grilled flavor with sautéed mushrooms was amazing. My husband had the pistachio crusted salmon, which was also amazing and cooked to perfection. Then there are the desserts. Where to begin… If you are looking for a place for a couple’s dinner or want to have a large family gathering, this is the place. Food is excellent. Service is fast and friendly. Can’t wait to go back. This place is over an hour from home, but I’d gladly travel that to have a meal this good again and again.

We recently attended a funeral in Belle Vernon and on our drive back up to Pittsburgh had occasion to stop for lunch at the cafe. Everything from their storefront window display (which features Blues Brother mannequins) to the interior decor is your hint that you're stepping into a "blast from the past." That's not a bad thing! Case in point--the wait-staff are very friendly--reminiscent of the "good old days." And there were quite a number of folks enjoying lunch together (generally a good sign when locals frequent a favorite dining spot). The seasonal menu (in our case autumnal) is much more intriguing and appetizing than their self-serve, all you can eat (somewhat banal looking) pizza buffet. While the autumn flatbread with sage whipped ricotta, apples, and roast butternut squash sounded quite tantalizing; we were a bit disappointed by it because the maple apple finishing sauce was way too sweet when combined with the already sweet seasonal toppings. (We had hoped for a more savory flavor). Our sandwiches were generously portioned. In fact, the gyro was over-stuffed with meat. Given the quantity of meat, the sandwich was a bit dry--it needed way more of their house made cucumber dressing (or at least the option of having more in a small dipping bowl on the side). The Reuben is delicious--in large part because of the home made corned beef. Also, if you like fresh baked desserts, they have some for sale by the slice in the case by the register so you can take some tasty treats home. One other random tidbit: we picked the cafe sight unseen thinking it was on the river. We happened to be driving through on a beautiful fall day and naively thought we might enjoy the river view. The joke was on us--the only windows are in the front along the sidewalk and street. The River Cafe isn't on the river! Basically, reliable and good quality fare, but not a place we'd make the effort to drive all the way down from Pittsburgh to dine there again.
Visiting from South Carolina. Took my son, my wife, and my wife’s mother and sister here for dinner. Nice sit down dining in this area seems to be few and far between, so I was delighted to find this establishment. Everyone enjoyed their dinner, the service was attentive and timely, and most importantly they were handicapped and service dog friendly which we deeply appreciate!
I am so glad I stopped here for a late lunch/early dinner. I had the Havarti Burger from the Seasonal Menu with Sweet Potato Fries and Homemade Chips and it was all fabulous. The staff was friendly and attentive. The River House Cafe has a very welcoming atmosphere.
We stopped on a road trip for lunch and will return because the food was good and the staff pleasant. My husband left his credit card there and they were kind enough to quickly mail it back. Thanks so much and see you next time!

We had dinner there this evening. I had the chicken romano with garlic mashed potatoes My son had the seafood medley over pasta. All was excellent. The service was attentive, prompt, and friendly.
Food was tasty, service was good, restaurant has to be one of the areas most popular spots. It stayed crowded the whole time we were there.
Great food, great service & inviting atmosphere! Had the shrimp scampi & it was delicious. Good prices too!
