While its popularity has waned, the flavor is really great: it has the crispiness of regular frying but with extra juiciness and somewhat less oil. Specks seems to also brine their chicken which takes it up several notches relative to any other fried bird. Prices are very reasonable and you can order by the bird or piece. Also there are a wide variety of other menu items including tasty side dishes ranging from potato salad to fries and green beans. Strongly recommend you accompany the food with a shake: they have some unique and delicious flavors like birch beer and orange creamsicle.

Got chicken tenders for a quick bite. The portion was generous, and it was served nice and hot. Would recommend. The chicken was tasty, and the price was quite reasonable.

I have had food from Specks in the past and it is usually good. I purchased food on Sunday and it was overcooked, hard, and way too salty. I called the store to share my feedback and I was told by Cole this is how they have been cooking this chicken for years and no one else complained today. I have had chicken there before and it was perfectly cooked. Too bad they have a don't care attitude about their customers concerns. I will no longer recommend this spot. They offer no alternatives to make the customer happy. The response was "what do you want me to do"? You can call back tomorrow after 8am to speak to an owner. I will not be wasting my time.

This place has some of the most unique fried chicken, its broasted and juicy every time. Every employee is nice and well mannered. Speck's is a slice of the 1950's they have used the same recipe for their chicken for over 60 years. I think it's still owned by the original family, too! I love this place. It can hit you in the wallet, but it's worth every penny.

My daughter recently moved to Collegeville and had been wanting to try this cute place. I'm hooked! All the comfort food your heart desires! My favorite, the corn fritters! Also loved the Broccoli Soup, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. We ordered many different things from the menu and loved them all. Great place to pull a "Gilmore Girls" food marathon! Such a nice staff too! Very Clean, which is always one of my first requirements on the checklist!

I was skeptical, even after reading the reviews… when I looked at the chicken in the box, I was ready to be disappointed… it looked like it was going to be dry and flavorless… shockingly, I was impressed. The chicken is absolutely delicious, with a crisp flavorful outside and juicy, tender meat on the inside.
