A truly magical and unforgettable dining experience awaits at Hyeholde Restaurant. From the moment you arrive, you feel transported to another world. I recently had the pleasure of dining here and was completely blown away by the service and the food. Chef Christopher O'Brien is a true culinary master, creating an orchestra of flavors that allows guests to expand their own fine dining experiences. The server was well-trained and personable, a definite level of class that matched the exquisite food. This is an amazing experience for special occasions in Pittsburgh. We enjoyed the Elysian Field Farm Lamb Rack, Elk Striploin, Terrine of Duck Confit & Foie Gras, Charcuterie Plate, Sherry Bisque, and the Rockefeller Oysters, and each dish was more incredible than the last.
Hyeholde's history is as enchanting as its ambiance. The restaurant was built by hand over seven years, starting in 1931, by William and Clara Kryskill, who returned to a cornfield in Moon Township with a promise to build a castle. They used salvaged materials from old barns and buildings to create the stunning, rustic-yet-elegant space. The first meals were served in 1938, and it quickly became a local treasure. Today, under the leadership of Chef O'Brien, Hyeholde continues its legacy as a sanctuary for the senses, providing a unique and historic dining experience in the Pittsburgh area.

The most stellar restaurant experience I have EVER had! My husband surprised me with a reservation here for our anniversary, and the food, the service, the atmosphere- everything was outstanding. The Hyeholde is far fancier than what we would normally choose for a dining experience, but it was an extra special treat as it was our first anniversary. We are not your typical upscale clientele, and we really appreciated every small detail of the experience, taking none of it for granted.
When we drove in, we dropped our car off with the (mandatory) valet service and headed in for our reservation. We sat in a small glass room that provided views of the surrounding woods and the outdoor dining area, and we appreciated seeing a baby bunny when we first arrived.
The food was out of this world, absolutely scrumptious, and we had to be intentional about taking small bites to savor everything because I wanted to just devour everything speedily with how delicious it was. We had the grilled local peaches, the prime beef delmonico, the elk striploin, the peach melba french toast, and the chocolate pretzel napoleon, as well as the complimentary bread platter with butter and house-made apple butter. It was very hard to pick a favorite part of the meal, but the grilled peaches stood out for their unique and stunning combination of flavors, and the prime beef delmonico was the best steak that I have ever had. The presentation of the food was beautiful (take a look at the pictures!), and yet the presentation doesn’t even fully encapsulate how delicious everything was. One small detail that really stood out to me were the large salt crystals used for the butter, the rolls, and the potatoes- beautiful and added such good flavor. Using fresh and local ingredients also makes a world of difference, this meal was very high quality.
Daniela provided incredible service, her knowledge of the menu and its specialties and nuances was very impressive. She even surprised us with our Peach Melba French Toast dessert decorated in honor of our anniversary and offered to take our picture, which was very nice to have.
We are incredibly grateful to have experienced such a special and high-quality restaurant. The Hyeholde is top-notch, and if you have the ability to make a stop here, it is well worth it.

A beautiful setting...have been coming to Hyeholde since the mid 1970's...always impressive. And Ryan, the server, was five stars all the way. The newest iteration of Hyeholde, after the renovation, is badging itself as a five-star dining experience. And that's great...nice to have one locally without going to downtown Pittsburgh. But if you present as five-star you should deliver as five-star. The sherry bisque was quite nice. The wife and I both had it. She then had the grilled peaches...very nice. I had six oysters Rockefeller. Not your traditional Rock in appearance and flavor. The oyster liquor left in the shells was enjoyable. The oysters Rock were OK; but would probably not order them again. I had the elk as a main and the protein was very good. The accompaniments were just OK. Wife ordered the Delmonico prime beef medium...just a hint of pink, as she says. It came medium rare...pink all the way through. I knew she would not eat it, so we sent it back for more cooking. Delmonico, prime, should be quite tender. But the wife had some trouble cutting through hers with a steak knife. The desserts were: a really nice creme brulee...wife, and the yuzu cheesecake for me. The brulee was excellent, the cheesecake not as good. Wife will not split a bottle of wine with me, so I go wines by the glass...and pair a glass with each course. They have to up their wines by the glass game. Reasonably priced for a place like Hyeholde. The pinot noir to start was not much. The Riesling was crisp, but too sweet. The Cab Sauv. with the elk was the best of the three, but maybe a B or B minus. All in all we had a nice time, glad we went. And as an aside, I have reviewed Hyeholde several times and have written glowing reports most of the time. A meal right before they closed for renovation was exceptional!!! The last time we were there it was not so glowing. They managed to figure out who we were by the meal description, get my name off the credit card receipt, find my phone number, we were not home, and left a message telling me what a dope I was and how I had gotten it all wrong. Filled up the entire answering machine capacity and got cut off mid criticism. So...I would appreciate no phone calls this time. Thank you.

The food is really good, and quite unique. Basically it's a fancy picnic that you can eat on the grass where you choose (they also have some tables). So it's good for a romantic evening. The main problem is the mosquitoes, which are numerous. It's also quite an expensive picnic, even for the quality, so you have to consider that you're really paying a premium for the experience.

A lovely, special evening, the food as well as the place. Our server, Natasha, was outstanding in her attention, as well as her knowledge of the menu and the history of the place. A quiet, welcoming place to chat over a leisurely dinner.

Our party of four had an exceptional dinning experience. From the step-back-to-another- time driveway, to the classic country manor, and the world-class artwork & decorations. The meals were of the highest quality, creative, most tasty, visually attractive, kind portions, as good as it gets! And all four of the meals and appetizers were of this stature.
