I knew it wasn't a good sign when the hostesses were having a hard time finding a table for us when we had reserved a high top. The sat us in the back corner where the atmosphere is more like a basement compared to the rest of the restaurant. I'm glad we left and went somewhere else because it wouldn't have been worth it. The waiter was completely understanding that we left after being seated because they placed us in probably the worst spot in the whole restaurant.

Consistently great food and service. Especially nice if you like to share small plates and sushi. So many options and all delicious! We had the blackened fish tacos -spicy and yummy! We had had the mushroom flatbread with cheesy goodness! And two wonderful sushi rolls and that was plenty of food for 4 peeps! The cocktail options are great and so delicious! We love their take on a vodka gimlet, so refreshing! We will be back.

We are frequent diners at 86 West. The food is good and the service is good. Unfortunately it was a rainy day so the bar area was really full. We were seated for dining near the bar, and it was really noisy. It is difficult to have a conversation in that atmosphere. I had asked for "regular" seating when I made the reservation, but when we got there I was told that the back of the restaurant (which is quieter) was full. Overall, this is a great restaurant, and we will return. It was just a busy night.

Although we were very happy with the meal, we felt terrible for our server. They were clearly understaffed and she was handling a large number of tables, both inside and out. It took a while for her to take our order. After the initial wait time, however, everything was smooth and she apologized many times.

In a town of great options, 86 West is as solid as it gets for the full package. The menu is as big as a diner's, but don't let that scare you off; it is all THAT good ! Cheers! We'll be back early and often.
