Upscale Italian dishes in the heart of Doylestown. The coat is a bit pricey but the food is delicious.

My favorite restaurant in Doylestown is Bocelli's. My standard is high: I travel to NYC frequently and seek excellent Italian food/service, etc. Bocelli's is as close as you'll get to NYC, an Italian, high-quality restaurant at a reasonable price. I also can bring my wine.

Bocelli’s is my family’s go-to restaurant in the Doylestown area. They have the best food and best service in town. Most restaurants lately are really lacking in the service department. Bocelli’s is a refreshing change in pace. We always feel welcome and catered to here. I’ve never had a bad dish here and the specials are always amazing. The vodka sauce is especially delicious on everything. And BYOB so save some money on alcohol!
We love Bocelli’s!

Great food
Mixed. Might try again.
Complementary mini bruschetta: my partner described it as very flavorful, which was not my impression at all. Tomatoes were typical supermarket quality. Bread was not fresh, but it was toasted, so not bad. Other tables were given a basket of rolls; we were not.
Complementary appetizer: Very nice rolled crepes with ricotta.
Fig and pancetta appetizer: Excellent; my favorite dish there. Creative and very tasty. Served over arugula.
Chicken cacciatore: quite good. Served over spaghetti (which was a bit overcooked). The sauce was flavorful, the peppers fresh and flavorful, and the mushrooms were delightful – sliced very thin.
Spaghetti carbonara: below average; did not finish. It was creamy and oily without being flavorful. I think it suffered from too little cheese and too much cream, and the wrong cheese – parmesan rather than pecorino Romano. Not near enough black pepper. Random fresh basil leaves were cooked into the sauce for some reason. Pancetta was not crispy. It may have just been added to the sauce rather than sauteed separately first. Pasta was slightly overcooked.
Other tables were offered complimentary limoncello; we were not. Maybe there is some formula for who is offered this and who is not. We received the crepe appetizer, so no complaint. Rich chocolate cake for dessert. Good typical restaurant quality, not likely made on-site.
Service was fine. This is a small, narrow restaurant, so perhaps not good for large parties. They take reservations only by phone, and you will probably not be able to reach them before 3 PM. The place was nearly full when we visited. You may not be able to find on-street parking close to the restaurant. Pay with cash and get 6% off your bill.

I'm afraid my first experience at Bocell's will be my last. The service was lovely, but the food did not warrant $40.00 a plate. The chicken caprese special was tasty but the chicken a little tough and lobster pieces fishy and unrecognizable. Branzino special could have been hotter and overpriced for portion size..Thought the music selections were odd for an upscale Italian restaurant. Rock?? Better options for the price IMO.

My son picked this restaurant for his birthday dinner.
There was five of us.
We had reservations at 6pm…we were told that they needed the table by 7:30.
I would have passed just on that.
By the time we sat down and were told the specials…we lost 15 minutes.
I wasn’t aware of the time restraint …try finding parking in Doylestown on a busy Saturday night.
The low rating on the food was because four of the five of us thought the food was bland and nothing special.
I ordered a veal dish with crab meat…there were four pieces of veal…served as two pieces…I’m guessing doing that saved them money on the small amount of crab meat on two pieces.
One person didn’t eat their meal at all.
They were nice enough to add a 20% gratuity …apparently that’s their policy for 5 or more people.
My wife and I go out to dinner at least 5-6 times a month….mostly in the city.
This place doesn’t deserve the rating it gets and my advice ….try somewhere else.
Do waste your money or a Saturday night out.

Go early because the place is small and fills up quick but we found out why. Food was terrific. Started with the lightly breaded calamari, then got the Tagliatelle ai frutti di Mare and wow was it good. Light and flavorful marinara sauce, clams, mussels, scallops and shrimp. Perfect. We also had the chicken Marsala which was very good.

Now, this is something to talk about! I can't shut up about this place. We went last night, very last minute. And am I glad we did! So parking kinda sucked, trying to find a spot, but I would drive around in circles again and again if need be. They gave us bruschetta to start (de-licious). Then the waitress, who my wife and I said was an absolute doll. I asked her if she studied all the specials the night before there were so many and so detailed. The little hot rolls were awesome (oil and pepper on table, or ask for butter). Then they came over with complimentary crepes (small with ricotta). Delicious! The wife got the lobster ravioli, which she LOVED! I'm a creature of habit and ordinarily get one of the standard chicken dishes. I saw the cacciatore, and said wth. Another great decision on my part. They were just killing it in every aspect possible. Non stop attention from the waitress, the little girl (bus "girl"), and another waiter (possibly owner?). Then they offered complimentary limocello, which we did not have. If you do nothing else before you die, and want an amazing meal, go to this place! You will be thanking me.....
