This place is a gem in the tri-county area! A pay-what-you-can establishment that treats all of its customers with respect and kindness. The food is always delicious - be sure to try one of the desserts of the day!

Halushki and Pierogi served at the Soul Plater Cafe are so good that we had to order another plate. It was like heaven on a plate. Hospitality is what explains the people who keep coming back, and all know the owner and the family that smiles when you dine here. It's a home, not a restaurant. Spend special time in this beautiful home, and remember to leave some food for us. We will soon return.

I stopped in Dubois PA for lunch in the middle of an 800 mile drive from DE to IL. I didn’t want the usual fast food, but I wanted to try something local. A google search brought up The Soul Platter Cafe, and the great reviews got me to stop in.The ladies working were super friendly and immediately made me feel like I was at home. The other customers were also very friendly. Overall great environment.Menu was limited but the choices all sounded great. I went with the pulled pork panini and wasn’t disappointed. Tasted great and was exactly what I was looking for.I wish we had something like this in my hometown. I’d probably be there at least twice a month. I hope my travels take me back thru Dubois.

This restaurant is a must-try for any weary traveler. The volunteer only staff is exceedingly warm and generous, making sure any need you have is met. The food is homemade and very affordable at full price (8$ for a big bowl of tomato soup, a sandwich, chips, and some coleslaw) but is pay what you can so anyone can find a meal there. After chatting with us, they even covered our meal! After a long drive through Pennsylvania, this place was a beacon of light in a (literal) rainstorm.
