I rented Room #17 for two nights. When I arrived yesterday, the room looked like it hadn't been swept or dusted. The floor was dirty and the corners were dirtier. The furniture is also dusty. I've seen cobwebs but so far only one spider. There's a mysterious hole in the ceiling about three inches wide. The room also features a sad looking empty flower vase next to the window. I can't sleep in the bed because there are pieces of dirt and small hairs in between the sheets as if they hadn't been washed after the last guest. Disgusting.

The good thing is that the window AC works great so I can actually control the room temperature.

I was there working a fundraiser event in the upstairs room. The Doyle is a beautiful piece of history, a must see. I want to go back and check out the down stairs and of course the food. You can rent a room there if you like and they welcome hikers. I will give 5 stars once I've had the food. It looked good.

This little place is a historic gem next to the River. Fantastic staff and great food. I would absolutely stay here again!

Best Reuben! It is hard to find someone who knows how to properly make one - grilled to perfection & no gristle. The fries were also exceptional - hand cut boardwalk style. Great with vinegar and salt. Fresh brewed ice tea. Many other interesting things on the menu too. Appalachian trail goes by this venerable establishment which resides in one of the oldest buildings in downtown Duncannon. Check out the trail map inlaid into the bar. Street parking.

The place is original, and the owners care to make it an experience. We came off the Appalachian Trail after only an overnight stay at a shelter to the south, and it was pleasant to know this hotel cater to us hikers. The owner talked to us, showed us pictures, and the waitress took our order without writing it down.

Stayed at hotel and dined as well. Food was great and waitress was spot on with managing larger crowd. Had burger one night and Ceaser salad another. Sat out on second level porch and enjoyed atmosphere.
Hotel stay - room was clean and beds were comfortable. Bathroom was updated and water was hot. Parking in the back was a plus. Had hard time turning handle with lock box attached and could not see numbers well. Some suggestions, smaller dresser so top could be used as table and more hooks in bathroom and closet. There was little ability to hang anything. With two people and backpacks it was crowded. There was an outlet near the door that did not seem to work. Found gas heater and no note as to whether we should use it. Found plug in heater that worked well. Air conditioning also worked well. It was very economical and a little loud with train and bar downstairs but bar quieted down around 11pm. Great for hikers.

It was one of the best burgers I have ever had. Cool old hotel, and we listened to live music upstairs. Laid back and relaxing.

Food was good, service was a little slow but that allowed for socializing. Seems to be a little hang out for regulars. Food had good portions.
