Best rice cakes in town.
The H Mart in Elkins Park PA is unique in that there are numerous other small businesses in the building. One of them is Ga Yeon Rice Cake! There are many many varieties of rice cake treats. The square has easy parking; though can get a bit busy on the weekend. I would say coming before noon is often a more pleasant experience.
The shop takes credit card, the food the beautifully packaged and the price clearly labeled.
I wouldn't say the customer service is super friendly but honestly I'm there for fresh products, not small talk. π€·π»ββοΈ So it doesn't bother me.
Discovered this place from a fellow foodie!
If you come when they first open everything is still very very fresh and super soft and chewy.
Never had any issues with them.
The Ggul-tteok & yakbap is literally my favorite!

I bought some rice cakes today and they were very fresh and delicious. It's not too sweet... and the jujube-decorated palace rice cake (weekend special!!) is so good that it deserves 5 stars. Be sure to try it.

bought songpyeon because it was Chuseok, but the moment I tried it, it was very salty..
We recieved a beautiful assortment tray to celebrate our Korean Church 20th year anniversary. These rice cakes were so moist and you could really tell the ingredients were fresh. I am in heaven. I miss Korea so much and this is a slice of my Korean home to me. Thank you so much.πβ€οΈ
More serious about rice cakes than other rice cake shops...Ingredients are fresh, tasty, and the staffwas kind...
The female casher(or owner) was never polite. She claimed I shouldn't have ordered a single pack of rice cake by phone to reserve, however, I usually buy three packs of rice cake at one time though. I don't understand why she is still there for spreading her bad vibes to the customers.
I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one who has the same experiences with her.
I don't know if it's the cashier at Gayeon or the owner, but one lady is really, really unfriendly. Gayeon's rice cakes are delicious and have a variety of varieties, so I sometimes go there when I miss Korean food, but when I go there when the lady is there, I never once feel like I'm happily buying rice cakes. I was told that I could reserve rice cakes over the phone and pick them up on time, but if I did that, they would nag me a lot when I picked them up later and tell me in an unpleasant tone that I shouldn't do that. If that's the case, then why do they say they only accept phone reservations? And we are customers who pay money to buy rice cakes from that store, so I don't understand why I have to spend my own money to hear bad things about them.
Phenomenal experience. The rice cake selections are extremely incredible. The staff is very friendly.
Heavenly taste with clean pure ingredients with beautiful appearance! There are so many different kinds of rice cakes, and I always find something new at every visit. The sesame barks are super with subtle sweetness and such a difference from factory made products! These sweets give healthy energy and pleasure, relaxation. Even therapeutic!

Highly recommend the fresh made rice products like tteok and yaksik. Incredible quality.
Freshly made every day and often sold out. So much variety and the chewiness is great!

delicious mandoo!!
This place rocks! I've been looking for a steam bun place but never found a good one, until I came across this place! All buns are fresh made in big steam pots. The buns are HUGE! The fillings are delicious, and they don't skim out on fillings like some places do. I need more places like this!! Give it a try. My personal fav is the Kimchi filling mandoo.
