UPDATED REVIEW: Northeast Philly transplant here.. I do not mean to bash a business, but after revisiting a few times more I came to the realization that they do not use ribeye or sirloin cuts of beef, but some random cut of lower quality beef, maybe chuck or top round or some chipped frozen beef not sure. That would be my only complaint they should really upgrade the quality of beef and that would upgrade their cheesesteaks, otherwise everything else is good I can tell they have good cooks and use fresh veggies and ingredients. It seems the only true places in this area to get a truly delicious local cheesesteak in my opinion are the OG's Sewards steaks (also use liscios rolls, but use ribeye or sirloin), There is a reason they have been in business for 60+ years and remain the best cheesesteak in the region even now better than the newcomers( mortys, smp market). Also I am not a fan of paying for ribeye prices for chipped beef cheesesteaks. Maybe it's more of a lehigh valley cheesesteak and I prefer what I am used to eating but I would much rather have a juicy freshly chopped ribeye cheesesteak is my top preference as far as cheesesteaks go is just my preference I guess

I'm from South Philly and Morty's Cheesteaks can go toe to toe with the best.
Excellent little place, tables and view of the town with friendly staff. Will be back. I got one wit sweet peppers and pepper jack cheese and an orange A-Treat soda. I will be back.

Stopped in here on a quiet Saturday night with a snowstorm approaching. The shop is a throwback to the Emmaus from back in the day, which is appropriate since it’s located near John Gould’s and A&H Sports (iykyk). The menus is simple - steaks, fries, and pierogies. We had the classic with sauce, provolone and pickles (tell me you’re in the Lehigh Valley without telling me you’re in the Lehigh Valley), and one with ‘Wiz. Good portions of meat and a tasty red sauce filled a crusty hard roll. Sandwiches were on point. Pierogies were solid too - we were expecting Mrs. T’s, but these were better - fluffy potato filling surrounded by a seasoned flakey crust {chef’s kiss}. The capper on the evening, however, was the fact that they stock A-Treat soda. Well done, Morty’s, well done.

I live down the road from Morty's but never tried it until yesterday. Went to this place after enjoying the Christmas tree lighting and I got to say it was probably the best hotdog and fries I've had in a while. Would definitely go back again

FIRST IMPRESSION: Sticker shock! Paid $31.25 for two vanilla shakes and two cheesesteaks (an 11-inch beef and an 8-inch chicken). SECOND IMPRESSION: Chicken cheesesteak was ordered with no onions, but extra sauce and pickles. It had no onions, but also no pickles. THIRD IMPRESSION: The extra sauce came on the side and, according to the receipt, cost an additional 50 cents. Don’t recall ever paying more for extra sauce anywhere. As my wife noted, both sandwiches contained insufficient sauce in the first place. Plenty of meat, but way too little sauce, so they were dry. And the small container of extra sauce she did get was bland, like straight out-of-the-can tomato sauce. FOURTH IMPRESSION: Our cheesesteaks contained no cheese. I ordered provolone cheese for both of them. Although they did not put any cheese on the sandwiches, my receipt shows they did charge us $1.04 extra for it: 52 cents for each sandwich, even though my wife’s sandwich was three inches shorter than mine .(I've repeatedly tried to add a photo proving there was no cheese in my sandwich, but Google locks up every time I try to add it.) FINAL IMPRESSION: THE $5 milkshakes were very good. Not very big for the price, but very tasty. Best part of our order.

Went in for a cheesesteak w/fried onions. I ordered one for me and a plain one for my son was in and out in under 15 minutes! The most pleasant and fastest service I’ve ever received and the sandwich was amazing cheese and onions in every bite! If I’m ever in the area again I will definitely visit again!

When this place first opened whoever was making the cheesesteaks knew how to do it right. We ordered multiple times a week and then one day it just fell off hard. Old dry meat no flavor not enough cheese sauce or onions, untoasted roll. Gave it 2 or 3 chances over last few months and same disappointing results. At one point I’d put this up against the other great cheesesteaks in the valley, hopefully they figure it out and get back to that level.

FIRST TIME AT MORTY'S, I ARRIVED AT 11:00 A.M. SHARP, WHEN IT OPENED. ORDERED A CALIFORNIA SWISS CHEESESTEAK, WITH F.F'S. ENJOYED IT FROM START TO FINISH! NOTHING DRY ABOUT IT, PLENTY OF CHEESE, FRESH PRODUCE, AND DA FRIES WERE BANGIN! ONCE AND DONE FOR ME, MY HOT SPOT IS SMP MINI MART IN WHITEHALL OR BRASS RAIL IN A-TOWN FARMERS MARKET.
THANK YOU FOR THE GRUB!
PEACE OUT
