On a recent motorcycle tour of Route 6, I found this quaint boutique hotel on Trip Advisor. I cannot say enough about the facility, the owner & the breakfasts. The hotel is a renovated house of a wealthy businessman. The restoration is meticulous. No detail was overlooked. The rooms are of period yet the bathrooms updated to include massive showers. Toured every room. Some were small but all beautiful. I recommend the “Shippen” room. It’s the largest & has the most sunlight. The breakfasts were all gourmet, the facility immaculate, the porch a great place to hang & the owner was a plethora of knowledge about the area. Helped make our trip even better!
The Hygrade Inn was a one night stay for us. We were just planning this as a stop over point, but we really enjoyed our stay. The room was cozy, clean, and tastfully decorated. The owners were super friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again.
This is the finest lodging establishment in Cameron County. The owners have done a magical job transforming the private home of an early Emporium industrialist into a luxurious and comfortable bed and breakfast. This is my second time staying at The Hygrade - it is now my "go-to" accommodation when I am visiting this very scenic area in the mountains of north-central PA. I especially enjoy the comfortable beds, luxurious en suite marble baths with rainfall showers and the delicious breakfast offerings in the morning. Jim and Matt are very affable and helpful hosts. You will not be disappointed in your stay at The Hygrade Inn.
Staying at the Hygrade Inn (a home converted into a bed and breakfast) was truly a delight. A tranquil and elegant experience was provided by our host Jim and he couldn’t have been nicer, friendlier or more accommodating. Our bedroom was dust free, warm, (Jim even turned up the heat for me because I run cold plus each bedroom has an adjustable minisplit) the bathroom completely updated, and most importantly, the bed super comfortable. We invited some friends over to eat takeout dinner with us and Jim surprised us with an elegantly set table. The antiques were fun to explore, the reading room quiet, the living room comfy. The no pets policy was great for my allergies. This may have been the most relaxing bed and breakfast I’ve ever stayed in.
My husband and I spent the past weekend at The Hygrade Inn and we enjoyed our stay immensely! Jim and Matt were so welcoming & friendly and gave us so many tips about the area- especially regarding elk sightseeing, which was our main reason for the trip. The Inn is beautifully decorated, cosy and comfortable. And the bathroom was amazing with a huge shower and shower head. It was very easy to relax. We would definitely stay again if we were ever back to the area!
My husband and I recently stayed at the Hygrade for a weekend getaway. Jim and Matt are amazing...the work and detail they have put into this beautiful B & B does not go unnoticed. Jim offered great recommendations for "things to do" in and around the area. Our accommodations were top notch and breakfast was amazing. Can't recommend this place enough.
We enjoyed our stay at the Hygrade very much. The host was very accommodating and the rooms are so so comfortable, lovely and quaint. The personal bathroom is a highlight with a shower that is to die for! Loved this place! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fantastic B&B; best in area to my knowledge; great room; Jim the host was super informative about the area; and oh, those blueberry pancakes! God bless you Jim!
We were recently in town for a class reunion. The guest suite was cozy and the shower was an absolute dream. Breakfast was sensational. We really enjoyed sitting on the front porch and visiting with the locals. I forgot how wonderful Emporium is for porch sitting and watching the world go by. I highly recommend The Hygrade Inn.
The Hygrade is THE best option for accommodations when traveling to the Emporium, Cameron County area. If you appreciate art, you'll love it even more. Jim and Matt are wonderful hosts and will do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. You will find the Hygrade to be a unique and enjoyable experience. (You will love the showers!)

A great home away from home when visiting friends and family in Emporium. A super comfortable and welcoming environment in a central location. Our 4th stay at The Hygrade and our go to place in the area. Great attention to detail in making your stay a pleasant experience.
I'd stay here again for sure. Jim was really helpful and cooked us a fantastic breakfast. The hotel was clean, the room was well appointed (and had the coolest hotel shower - top 2 with the Andaz Maui). We only spent 1 night, but I'd happily spend more. It's a nice base for Elk County, Sinnamahoning, Benezette, etc.
The Hygrade is Beautiful! We just returned home from a wonderful weekend in Emporium, PA. The atmosphere was like stepping back in time. The room was decorated so beautiful. The bed was comfortable and the walk in, over sized rain shower…I can’t say enough about it. So relaxing!! We also enjoyed the large front porch. Great for a night cap and just taking in the night air. The locals were so friendly as they walked by. We talked with Jim the owner about some of the towns history and the renovations of the Inn. What a great Host! The day before we left he made some Meringue cookies “Delicious”!! I can’t wait to visit again soon and we will stay only at the Hygrade!!
This little, historic gem- the former home to the founder of Sylvania (lighting)- is exactly what you need if you're staying in or passing through the area! Jim and Matt have thought of everything- from comfy beds with cozy pillows, to spacious showers with rain type heads and great smelling toiletries, to the aroma of coffee waking you gently in the morning. The adorable guest books include suggestions on where to eat or explore-definitely seek out elk in the many local state forests and check out Kinzua State Park for the fallen trestle and some great walking trails! Our family stayed in the Gibson and Grove rooms and were quite comfortable. Do yourself a favor and check out their new gift shop, Thing-A-Majig, where you can get some really cool and whimsical goodies, including these amazing, decorative lightbulbs (a throwback to Sylvania?), quirky cards and artwork, and even Christmas items. We'll definitely be back!
Just got home from a wonderful two night stay. Could not ask for a better experience. The rooms are delightful and the beds are heavenly not to mention the beautiful decor throughout . Can’t wait for a other visit ASAP. Highly recommend the Hygrade Inn!
