We reserved a hibachi table for a group of eight, including visiting family whose kids had never experienced hibachi before. We chose A1 based on a relative’s positive visit from years ago, but unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations.
To start, the salad was completely drenched in dressing, it was more like salad soup, and the miso soup lacked any real flavor, tasting like plain broth. Most of us ordered chicken and shrimp, and while we were expecting the usual lively hibachi performance, our chef barely interacted, didn’t engage the table, and aside from the standard onion volcano, offered no entertainment or flair. More importantly, he didn’t season the food at all, no garlic, no sauces, no flavor and didn’t even ask if we wanted any. The result was bland, dry chicken that left everyone underwhelmed.
With Arirang just down the road offering better food, more engaging chefs, and a better overall experience, I’m honestly not sure how A1 continues to operate. As locals, we were all disappointed, as well as embarrassed for suggesting this restaurant to our out of town relatives. We certainly won’t be returning.

This place deserves a 10/5 stars. We used to live in the area, and go to this spot religiously. We now live 1 hour 30 minutes away, and we still come here as often as possible because no other place makes food like them. If you had a bad experience, you were just having a bad day. You need to come again, and just enjoy.

Stopped in for dinner and was very disappointed. The food was bland at best and not good quality. I don’t think the restaurant owns any garlic, which is weird for hibachi and makes me understand why there was no flavor. I could have made better food at home. Definitely will not go back.

This place is DISGUSTING ! COCK ROACHES crawling all over the tables/grill. Smells like old musky odor/dirty. This place needs a huge make over. I will never return.

**A1 Japanese Steakhouse – Hibachi Experience**
Dining at A1 Japanese Steakhouse is a must, especially for their hibachi experience. The chefs are skilled entertainers, flipping shrimp tails and creating fire tricks as they cook your meal right in front of you. The food is exceptional—tender filet mignon, juicy chicken, and perfectly seasoned shrimp, paired with flavorful sides like fried rice and a savory ginger sauce. The portions are generous, ensuring you're satisfied by the end of the meal. The lively, communal atmosphere makes it perfect for any occasion. A1’s hibachi is more than just dinner—it’s an experience!

A1 Steakhouse was disappointing from the start. As soon as we walked in, there was a strong, musty odor—probably from the carpets—and take-out containers were left out in the dining area, giving the place a dirty and disorganized feel.
We were clearly ordering from the lunch menu—we had it open at the table—and my partner asked for the hibachi lunch special. But we were charged the dinner price, even though it was during lunch hours. The server doubled down and blamed my partner for not being specific. But that’s not how it works—you confirm the order as a server. The whole thing escalated into an unnecessary argument simply because no one wanted to take accountability. The manager was called over and gave a non-apology that didn’t address the real issue.
The food didn’t help either. The soup wasn’t miso—it was clear broth with barely any flavor. The sushi rice was dry, hard, and completely lacked the seasoning you’d expect. Our daughter’s food arrived half an hour late (which was part of the appetizer)
I’ve eaten in plenty of hole-in-the-wall spots where service and food made up for the setting. This place had nothing going for it—bad food, bad service, and no ownership of mistakes. Not worth your time or money.

A1 Japanese Steakhouse straight-up delivers the goods. From the moment you walk in, it’s all vibes — the energy is lively, the staff is on point, and you know you’re about to have a night to remember.
The hibachi experience? Next level. The chefs don’t just cook — they perform. Fire flying, knives flashing, jokes cracking — it’s dinner and a show, and somehow the food still comes out absolutely flawless. Every bite is packed with flavor — the steak, chicken, shrimp… all cooked to perfection, seasoned just right, and served hot off the grill.
And let’s talk about the portions — they do not play around. You leave full, happy, and lowkey planning your next trip back before you even hit the parking lot. Plus, the sushi? Fresh, gorgeous, and worth a whole trip by itself.
A1 isn’t just a meal — it’s an experience. Great for date nights, birthdays, team outings — or honestly, just because you deserve a little extra magic in your life. Absolute 10/10.
