Suburban Diner Restaurant - PENNSYLVANIA

We recently moved into this neighborhood and was looking forward to enjoying a different restaurant, but we waited in the foyer area for five minutes to be seated and we were completely ignored. The specials we read looked good and the prices were reasonable, but we won't be back. I shared our experience with others and we are not the only one that was ignored. If one waitress would have acknowledged us we would have waited but they just chose to talk among themselves and the host on the phone call didn't acknowledge us either. Sad, because we were looking forward to trying your food. I give reviews to Google for years and this is my first time I gave a two, because of how we were treated.

This was our first time here. I would love to give this place 5/5, since our server was friendly and helpful, the cashier (probably the manager) was friendly, and the man who seated us was friendly as well. The food was also delicious and reasonably priced. However, I came to the reviews looking for anyone else who experienced discriminatory behavior from the other servers. After seeing other reviews mentioning racist behavior from the staff, it was officially confirmed for me. There was not a single non-white customer there–not one! All of the odd stares from customers plus the wait staff were quite obvious and made the atmosphere very uncomfortable. We stayed because at least the man who seated us, as well as our server, were kind to us (they also happened to be people of color, and the only wait staff who didn't stare at us). Before reaching the cashier--the only other person who was hospitable to us--we asked the other servers where our server was so that we could tip him directly, rather than just leaving it on the table. The other servers didn’t answer us…they merely kept staring. The only people who spoke to us at all and answered our question was the man who seated us and the cashier.
For other diners: proceed with caution, and be careful about where you're spending your money. Go where you are welcome.

For the owner of they see this: please don’t be dismissive and treat this like a misunderstanding, or as if it didn’t happen. Please don’t make excuses and say that your customer base is diverse when tonight absolutely proved otherwise, and clearly other reviewers have agreed. Please just do better. It is 2025. No one should EVER feel unwelcome or worse in ANY establishment.

Dine here at your own risk, and I promise you, there is a risk. My family and I recently ordered desserts from here, it ended up costing me over $1000 in hospital bills. Suburban’s strawberry cheesecake gave me severe food poisoning. You may ask how I know it was the cheesecake, the cheesecake was the only thing I ate differently from my family. The hospital also confirmed it was severe food poisoning. I have never been so sick in my entire life and, if I were you, I would not risk consuming anything from suburban.

Tried a New menu item.
Short Rib Grilled Cheese with grilled/caramelized? onions, Cheddar & Mozzarella
Sounded promising but not well executed.
No color, bland onions.
Meat had No Seasoning or Marinade, very bland.
Both cheeses had that plastic, artificial, processed taste to it.
Whole thing had that greasy taste of the grill not being cleaned for awhile.
NOT the usual, good quality I'm used to from them.

Suburban Diner has been my go to place for eating breakfast if I'm dining out. Good food, great service. I haven't left without feeling full! 😋

So I came here with my boyfriend who is dominican ( they were so obviously beyond racist! ) The waitress ( Cecilia ) Came to our table with our food and i had ordered home fries well done and eggs, my home fries i did not touch due to the fact there was GRILLED CHICKen hidden under the home fries. First of all they are 2 very different things. Not sure how that got mixed up! weren't well done like i asked either. They treated us poorly. my boyfriend had a second lemonade that he said tasted nothing like the first one! didn't touch it! Then she had the audacity to charged us for 2..!!! .... when he clearly didn't touch it!!!! She was unreal! she said it was weird that the chicken was in there and didn't offer anything to replace it!!!!! i expected her to atleast offer to take something off the bill which In resturant business is a MUST. OR offer me something else besides homefries!!!!!! It was the most unreal experience I ever had going out to eat. The lemonade was the cherry on top. It looked super foggy / unpleasant. Then as We are leaving the boss did not open his mouth to say sorry for the inconveniences after i had told him everything that had happened.. I work at a diner.. Ive worked at more than one. This is unreal business!!!!! Do better!!!! You never know who you're serving!!!!! As we were first beggining to order she also was telling me the salad was 12$ as if it mattered to me... I wanted a side salad. I am pregnant!! I don't care the cost! If she was a good waitress her tip could've been 50$ , Unreal service. This business is a joke! Not to mention I didn't touch the porkroll i asked for well done either, and my boyfriend had 2 bites of his burger. this was absolutely outrageous.

Great service and amazing comfort food like you wish you had growing up. I'm sure the restaurant sees every retired person in the area eat there in a week.

Attentive, personalized service. Plenty of choices for our party of 5 and plenty of food 😋

Everything was over cooked , super well well done and dry . Anything made in the fryer was fried in old oil giving everything the same smell and dark coloring . Produce was the freshest ingredient everything else tasted frozen. Maybe breakfast is their forte but definitely not dinner
