Food was decent, but the service was extremely slow while the dining room was empty. No one was seated in the restaurant but there were plenty of loud rowdy customers at the bar, hence why we opted for dining seating. It seemed like they had a cook or some type of kitchen staff doubling as our server, as he rarely checked on us and brought us our food without providing utensils beforehand. Meals were supposed to be served with salads, as shown in the picture, but we were only given the bread. Finally, we were given the check and after running my card they added a fee without informing me I'd be charged extra for using a debit card. Legally establishments cannot add any charges above the original check without consent from the customer. We will not be back.

Pasta is made from scratch. Very yummy! I was in a pasta sort of mood even though I saw that the reviews seemed to praise the calamari (which I would probably try next time), pizza, calzones, seafood, and possibly a few other things. I saw a few pictures of the carbonara and I didn't see it on the menu. I wasn't planning on ordering it as I'm used to bacon carbonara with a creamy sauce. I looked up carbonara and it seems that it is traditionally served with black pepper but then usually with some type of ham in Italy that is not common here. So bacon is used in the US generally instead. If they took it off the menu, I think this was a good choice on the restaurant's part. The people here really care and are always looking to improve. The prices here are very reasonable. The staff that work here were able to understand the social vibe and any potential nuanced language barriers that came up such as when I wanted to pack my salad and pasta all in the same container rather than wait to get the to-go container.

This Bar/Restaurant is Fantastic. It used to be called Della Polla's for many years while I was growing up in Folsom, the next town over. Surprisingly I never visited this place until now which I think is still managed by the same people though I'm not certain. But everything they make is so delicious and a much larger amount than a typical entree anywhere else. I got penne w/vodka sauce and it was made perfectly. And anyone who knows anything about Italian Cuisine knows that it takes a special "know how" to achieve the love that you could taste in this dish. My sister got the same thing and agrees. My brother in-law got the Italian stromboli and it was made perfectly, and served literally on a silver platter (probably stainless steel, but still). The calamari appetizer we ordered was noticeably different than what I'm used to in a good way, as it appeared to be breaded and fried right there in the establishment rather than bought frozen. I Definitely reccomend Carmens so much that I'm going to get it published on my next Google Maps list of "Favorite Places To Go!" If you're in town, check this place out!
