Went here with my English husband and we were disappointed by the lack of English food on the menu. Only things on it were fish and chips and shepard's pie. AND the chips with the fish were homemade potato chip style potatoes. They were very good but not expected.
Beer selection is good. Service was good. Wings were GREAT. Just would have been nice for this English pub to be a bit more English as far as the food is concerned.

Union Jack’s – Came in for happy hour but there was nothing happy about it!
I stopped at Union Jack’s Old Glory Pub in Glenside with a friend before dropping him at the Jenkintown train station. We had about 50 minutes to spare and I’d heard good things about their wings, so we decided to try it. Unfortunately, our visit was one frustration after another.
We were seated outside at 3:59 PM and told our server we were short on time. We immediately ordered: a beer (happy hour), a cocktail (not on happy hour, fine by me), and two happy hour appetizers — wings ($10) and poppers ($5). The beer came quickly, but my cocktail took about 10 minutes despite the place not being busy (two other outdoor tables already had their food). When the drink finally arrived, it was dripping down the stem. No napkins were provided, and the server had already walked away. I had to call after her to request some, only to be told she’d be back — (a neighboring table offered us some of theirs, saying they had to ask too.)
At 4:17 PM, the server returned to inform us they were out of poppers — one of only three happy hour food items. This should have been mentioned when we ordered, not 20 minutes later. At that point it was too late for me to order anything else for dine-in, so I decided to get 20 wings to-go (to share with my neighbor, who loves their wings) along with onion rings.
The wing menu lists “Mild, Medium, Hot & Suicidal” sauces as included, and says “Specialty Wing Sauce add .25 for each 10 ordered.” I confirmed with the server that the specialty sauce fee was 25¢ per 10 wings, so I ordered three sauces and asked for the included mild on the side as well.
At 4:30 PM, my friend’s wings finally arrived — giving us barely 10 minutes to eat before heading to the train. We asked for both checks (one dine-in, one to-go). Both bills were wrong. The happy hour wings were charged at $12.99 instead of $10. The to-go wings ($26.99 on the menu) were charged at $30.15. When I questioned this, I was told the extra was for sauce — but now it was “79¢ each for to-go” instead of the 25¢ I was told earlier and that was printed on the menu. At that point we had to leave for the train, so we just paid and decided to call later.
At 5:00 PM after dropping my friend at the train, I called to speak with a manager — none on duty. I left my name and number. At 9:30 PM, still no call back, so I called again and spoke to the bar manager, who listened and said she’d speak to the owner. She called back the next morning to say the owner would refund me $2.52 (the difference between the price on the menu and what they actually charged) but couldn’t put it back on my card — I’d have to come in and pick it up. That was it. No apology, no offer to make it right, no incentive to return!
This wasn’t just about $2.52 — it was the entire poor experience: slow service, lack of communication, incorrect bills, misleading menu pricing, and an owner who clearly doesn’t value customer satisfaction. With so many options in the area, I choose to support businesses that appreciate my business. This one does not.
And for the record — I did not return for the $2.52 and the wings weren’t even worth the trouble!

The wings and peorigoes are my favorite thing from their menu. I still am looking forward to trying some of the other items. The sauces are delicious. My daughter loves the Mac & cheese. It is a family friendly spot for quick service. They do get busy but are typically well-staffed.

One does not simply walk into Union Jack's for the decor or atmosphere. You come for the beer selection and the wings. The beer list changes frequently (no longer updated on their Facebook page I guess), and my beer-knowledgeable friends come here frequently because the beers are worth the trip. (Well, there was the one that reminded us of a Yankee Candle, but that's not UJ's fault.)
The wings are tasty, good, and famous, available with several heat settings, or other sauces.
The service is very good—attentive and apparently reasonably well-informed about the beers—even if there's sometimes a wait just because there aren't scads of staff to actually wait on tables. (Meaning: one waitress for the whole front room, some evenings.)
This is a regular spot for me and my wife and friends, and we expect to be back again and again.
The back room has been opened to the spring, summer and fall air, but has roll-down windows and heaters for winter. Still noisy, but a great place.
Note: my friend's piece of fish in his small Fish and Chips was enormous. Made me briefly regret my choice of medium wings.

Local bar that's grown less edgy and dank over the last couple of years (you can even take your kids here now!). Strong lineup of quickly rotating craft and English beers backed by a solid bottle/can list. Great cheese steaks and chicken steak sandwiches, some delicious wraps, and of course some of the best wings you'll ever have.
