Got the pork fried rice, there was a huge spider crawling around in it. Will not be back.

This place used to be one of the best Chinese-American restaurants in Delaware county. Now, I would say it's only about on par with an average city counter restaurant on a good night.

Looking for an option for decent take out on a weeknight when you're ending your day later than expected can be a challenge. My wife suggested Sampan, which seemed like a safe option.

She asked me to order a "big broth noodle bowl" which they corrected me and said it was a "deluxe wonton noodle bowl". It ended up not being what she intended on ordering, but she said it was still acceptable.

Now, to the reason for the 1-star review. My order was the egg drop wonton soup. There wasn't anything too bad about the broth (which admittedly is hard to screw up). I kid you not that the wontons in the soup tasted like bleach mixed with toilet water. I tried eating one and couldn't even swallow the first bite. They had to be old and gone bad at least a day ago. You can read my other reviews posted about other restaurants: I am not known to be a super-picky eater and fairly judge the quality of the food I eat with perspective of the price and quality advertised. Saying that the food I was served was inedible is a terrible understatement and a disgrace for a restaurant that built up a reputation as Sampan has.

I will not be ordering food from here and think everyone reading this review deserves to know how far this restaurant--once voted top Chinese restaurant in Delaware county no more than 5 years ago--has fallen from grace. I sincerely hope someone working from the restaurant reaches out to me and apologizes for the disgrace that was served to me this evening.

Parking: There are parking meters next to the restaurant, space is limited. There is also a parking lot about a block away that charges a small fee during the daytime.

The owners of Sampan should be ashamed of themselves. They own the building down the street on Darby and rent to a smoke shop called “One Stop Shop”. The smoke shop actively sells to minors. Middle schoolers show their school ID and the smoke shop accepts it even though they are minors.

Vegetarian options: I’m not a vegetarian but my son has been one for about 15 years and Sampan Inn is one of his favorites He has continued to live with me as an adult. So what I am saying is that I have observed his preferences for most of his life except college. We discovered Sampan Inn roughly New Year’s Eve for dinner at the end of 2003 or 2004. Our whole family has been regulars ever since. Several thumbs up!

Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance used to be on the side street but it was moved to a recognizable spot at the actual corner with no obstacles in the restaurant and to the table.

Horrible service . There was a roach in my chicken in broccoli. Management is rude and take no accountability. Don’t waste your money

This is a phenomenal standard; extensive menu, deliciously and efficiently prepared. Friendly owners/staff. Really great pan-Asian neighborhood staple.

While the food is consistently good, the service is lacking. I placed a large order online through their website. It was a fairly large order and was over 80 dollars. When the order arrived, three egg rolls were missing. I called the restaurant to let them know. I wasn't really expecting them to replace them but really just wanted to make them aware. The person who answered argued with me that they were in the bag. I explained that the three spring rolls were there but notthe egg rolls. The person continued to argue with me and then implied maybe the driver took them. Who knows, maybe he did, but that's just bad business to argue. Such a shame, it was our go to Chinese restaurant. We order at least once a month and this was actually the second time this week. I wasn't looking for an argument, I honestly just wanted to let them know. We will now be looking for a new place to order from.
