It is always full of happy memories at the Hotel. Our family has enjoyed the hotel since I was a child. The staff is awesome, friendly & happy. Thanks for a great memories in our family. Jeri & Jeffrey
Very nice experience at one of the cottages. The room and bathroom are spacious, the fireplace was perfect for a chilly morning. Wish it had been warmer, otherwise the porch and chairs would have been great. Definitely enjoyed Hershey Gardens. On site food at the Harvest was a bit disappointng. The cottages are pricey.
We stayed in the Woodside Cottages which was overall a nice stay. For the amount of money we paid per night, we wish that we could have slept better but the family above us had children running around non-stop. It seems like the buildings should have been built for concealing sound better. Or consideration could have been given to keep a couple upstairs vs under a family. Especially since it seemed like there was plenty of cottages available. The front desk staff and housekeeping staff were great. Overall the hotel has quaint charm but is very dated and not in a sweet historic way. Glad we tried it but will look for something more aligned with the price next time.
The greatest place in PA to visit We go there 3-4 times a year for the past 30 plus years Always great food and service The family from young to old cannot wait to return If they made a cottage condo. We are all in
We stayed at the Hotel Hershey this past weekend for our daughter's birthday. We have been coming to the hotel at least once a year with our children for the last 10 years. Since the pandemic, the elegance, class, and most of all customer service of the hotel has declined significantly. For example: -There is never a "welcome back" greeting -You are not greeted by your name -When we checked in the woman at the front desk barely made eye contact with us. She handed us our room keys, but never explained the tickets to the Hotel Gardens or Museum, just handed us 2 other sheets of paper which turned out to be a property map and hotel activity list for the weekend. -The bellman who delivered our bags did not orient us to the room or ask us if the room was satisfactory. -By far, the WORST interaction I had was with the concierge. I approached her about switching a dinner reservation time at Harvest from 815 to 745 that evening. Without even checking, she just stared at me blankly and said "they're booked." I then asked what about Circular? She again responded "they're booked too." Never even checking. I was so mad that I called Harvest directly and they were easily able to switch our reservation to 745. Complete laziness on her part. -When I checked out, the woman at the front desk never asked "did you enjoy your stay?" "how was everything?" Not even a smile. -The overall attitude of most staff is "meh". They do not act like they are working for a 4 star hotel, more like a Holiday Inn. Clearly, better staff training is needed. The positives are the grounds are still beautiful and well maintained. The shuttle to the park is very convenient and runs frequently. Our chocolate martininis from the Iberian Lounge were delicious. Lastly, we still had a very good time at the amusement park celebrating our daughter's 8th birthday!!
All staff was wonderful and friendly! So much to do at hotel , walking trails, food, shops, indoor/outdoor pool, fitness center and exercise classes for both pool and center, Hershey gardens and more.
When i made my reservations last year in October for this March they screwed up my name . They had me as Lisa which was not my name and they spelled my last name totally wrong. Very disapointed in them but we enjoyed our stay and meals there. My daughter got better treatment in her spa massage then i did. Dissapointed in that part of it. Everyone was very nice to us in the spa. We will book again for my granddaughters graduation hopefully they can learn to spell my name so we don't have any confusion when we check in next year.
Maybe I my expectations were too high based on the price being paid and the beautiful exterior when I pulled up to the hotel….I was disappointed. I’ll start with the positives – beautiful building, great food, free candy bar at check-in, nice café/grill and nice souvenir shop. Now the negatives which ruined my stay – some staff had a positive attitude while others didn’t (hit or miss), everything in the room seemed small for an average sized person (bed, toilet space, shower, bathroom sink, room), was loud throughout the hotel, prices in restaurants/bar. I’ll go into the biggest negative experience that was absolutely shocking to me. After a full day of meetings and having a large dinner, I was in my room, and could hear kids running up/down the hall, laughing, and closing doors loudly – making it hard to focus on my work. This went on for well over an hour. It was close to 10:30PM at this point and I wanted to go to bed and since loud noises in the hallway were not subsiding, I went ahead and called the front desk. The conversation went exactly like this: Me: There are a bunch of kids running around the hallway, can you send someone up and ask them to be quiet? Hersey Hotel Rep response (verbatim): Their curfew ends at 11. Me: I’m trying to go to bed. Hotel Rep: Okay, I’ll send someone up. Well….it continued on very loudly until 11:03PM before the kids finally calmed down. I felt like I was back in college in the dorms or maybe even a cheap highway hotel, not at a nice, high-end hotel. I found out the next day when I spoke to the desk that there was some type of high school event going on there and that’s why there were kids running around. It was very disappointing to learn that the kids were the priority, not the other guests. Not to mention, the hotel NEVER should have put other guests on the same floor as kids who they knew were running around and gave them a curfew. Very disappointing experience and not a hotel I will recommend to my friends.
It pains me to have to write this review, because I was so looking forward to our stay. Unfortunately, the disappointment was so extraordinary I felt it imperative to leave an honest review. True, in it’s heyday the Hershey hotel offered elegance and serenity. However, I believe is it about 50 years past its prime. We originally had space in the cottages that you hear so many lovely things about unfortunately, we were forced to relocate because our room was overcome with ants. However, also to my surprise, it was very worn the furniture was tattered. The appointments were outdated and in our second room in the main hotel, (which was required because they couldn’t get the ants under control in the cottages), was just as worn. Furniture was tattered, paint, peeling, shower needed cleaning and again about 50 years past its prime. I’d say the Hershey Hotel need a complete makeover. So, you plan your vacation, just be aware that you’re paying a significant amount for a very worn and outdated property. #hershey needs to do better!
For 500 a night, I was expecting a lot more. The room was small and the walls paper thin. When checking in, the employees were very friendly but nothing special. The bathroom in our room was so basic and no space for our toiletries. We got the romantic package that was not worth it. Where were our strawberries, where was our champagne ? Surprise! They forgot and our dinner reservations were wrong. Not sure what happened but very disappointed that a call needed to be made. Our room was right by the very slow and burning belt smelling elevator which made it even worse. When guess were waiting for the elevator, we heard everyone’s conversations. Although the meals we had at Harvest and Trevi 5 were very good and service was great, it didn’t offset the room experience. To top off our last day there, house keeping had to clean up broken glass in the hallway at 9am by running a vacuum right outside our room. Good thing we got up early to check out and not turn back. So much for the sweetest place on earth.

I have never taken the time to write a review in the past, but my love and connection to this property and the neglect I've observed in recent years has prompted me to post this. I have been going to the Hotel Hershey for 18 years, ever since I proposed to my wife in the Circular Dining Room on New Years Eve 2004/5. We immediately fell in love with this grand hotel, in all its charm, elegance, history, beauty and grace. We have been going back every New Years since, and once we had children, started adding a second trip a year in the summers to enjoy the pool and amusement park. I truly have a special place in my heart for this hotel! So with that said, it really breaks my heart to see how much it has been neglected in recent years. I have been observing the following over the last few years and after my most recent visit this past New Years, I had to put my thoughts down. Everywhere I look walking around the hotel there's peeling wallpaper, dented walls, gashed up furniture, worn out carpeting, very visible cracking around every piece of molding and trim. The neglect is visible and everywhere you look and it's sad. In the rooms itself - and I've stayed in many - the bathrooms are aging very, very poorly - shower/tub caulking thats filthy and peeling, bath fixtures that are barely holding on, towels that are torn. The bed mattresses are all collapsing, and worn out. I had a refrigerator that was literally hanging off its hinges this past summer in a cottage room. How does something like that even pass inspection from one guest to the next? Simple - no one is checking for it. For the incredibly expensive rates they charge - and its clear it all goes directly to the Hotel since there's NO travel websites you can book from — it's completely baffling to me how they havent reinvested any of this very substantial revenue into necessary updates and remodels. At least nothing major or visible to my eyes who's been back twice a year for many, many years. (And turning the retail store into a Lululemon boutique does not qualify as a renovation/remodel.) Unfortunately, when theres neglect like this building up over the years things have gotten far beyond simple paint touch ups and patches and band aids — this place is at the point where a major renovation is needed. And needed ASAP. On the service front, everyone is very friendly and helpful. One point of contention is after visiting for many years, every time we returned we'd be greeted with a personal welcome back letter from then General Manager Brian R. O'Day. Very classy touch. However that stopped years ago with this new GM. Disappointing. I can only wonder if that's when the rest of the place started its decline as well... I truly hope to see an announcement soon that Hotel Hershey has announced a major multi million dollar renovation. Or maybe they're hoping to get acquired by a big hotel chain that would make that investment for them. Either way, I truly hope put the love and care back into taking care of this grand hotel and making it beautiful and glorious again. C'mon guys make Milton Hershey proud!
Lovely Historic hotel in a beautiful setting. Delightfully decorated for Christmas. Well organized activities at the pool. Delicious meals at the in-house restaurants. We had a wonderful time at the Hotel Hershey.
Pros: the property is well kept and beautiful. Well decorated for the holidays, quality finishes everywhere and the staff is lovely and helpful. While outdated, the rooms still feel quality and clean. Cons: actually ever getting sleep. The walls/doors/windows are SO thin that everything/anything happening anywhere near your room will sound like it is INSIDE your room. We're not light sleepers in the least - this is actually the first hotel we've ever had this issue at. However, we must have been somewhere over a dumpster or maintenance shed as starting around 5am we heard something being dragged across asphalt or cement and back again every 15 minutes. Ove and over, and it frankly sounded like it was being dragged across our foreheads. House keeping started vacuuming the hallway outside our door at 7am. We heard every "ding" of the elevator arriving, and every single conversation anyone had in the hallway outside our room (this went on all night, all morning). For $550 a night, and what can only be described as the worlds smallest room - very nearly possible to touch all four walls at the same time - one would expect to bare minimum be able to have a solid nights' sleep. The water pressure is also a trickle so don't hope to get a good wake up out of your morning shower either after your sleepless night. We've stayed at an incredible amount of hotels, domestic and international, and barring those which cleanliness standards weren't cutting it, this may be the worst night we've ever stayed in a hotel. It's unfortunate because the view entering/exiting the property is grand, the interior is very jolly and the front desk staff are lovely. But, the bare minimum expectation for booking a "night" in a hotel is that you're able to sleep during that night and we simply were unable to. The price implies Ritz quality, however, it's Marriott amenities & Motel 8 during spring break quality sleep.
Unhappy for a second year in a row. You pay so much money only for the hotel to be SUPER crowded with company conferences. Second Christmas season in a row where the hotel is packed, can’t get a reservation for lunch or dinner, and breakfast is completely full with conference goers. I wouldn’t mind if it was families with kids but for it to be a conference just makes it like a holiday inn experience. Probably will save my $1, 000 and go elsewhere
Would have been a 5 star but pool area n pool itself was too cool. Not sure what temp it was but 2 degrees more in the air n room are definitely in order. Even ladies bathroom was cool. Towels comfy, had kids goggles, n lifeguards. Outside was cold and noon temp was 39 degrees.
