“Went last night with two friends for my birthday! I think our chef said his name was Gino! He was great and our waitress and the food was great! My only complaint was that the music was blaring so, we couldn't hear what anyone was saying and we really could even talk to each other!!! It took away from the experience since our chef was saying things that we couldn't hear. I did ask three different staff members if they could lower it to no avail. We don't think we will go back there again! We had to keep asking our waitress to repeat herself and that got to be exhsusting😣”

The staff was polite and beyond attentive—they circled the dining room for the entirety of our event ensuring each of our guests had everything and anything they needed. Not one person had to ask for a drink refill, and it’s safe to say that all expectations were exceeded. “My family and I ate at this amazing restaurant! We happened to be in the area and stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. We were greeted nicely, the service was good and the food was delicious! We even met Richard who took the time to graciously explain the history and origin of the restaurant/ menu. The atmosphere was inviting and rich with culture. I would totally recommend Samarkand! “Stopped in after a biking through Pennypack Park. Wanted a gyro and picked this place because of the a 5 star rating. The experience exceeded five stars.
The people are incredibly hospitable and friendly.
The food!!! Sooooo goood! Had the lamb Gyro on Mediterranean pita (panini pressed). It was ridiculously delicious. The Moroccan soup slapped. The falafel was crispy and flavorful. The chicken over rice needed no sauce. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and delectable on its own.
The portions were generous. I ate so much and still had plenty of leftovers to take home.
You can tell the people that own this place care about customer experience and quality food.
