This place is wonderful! I ordered a smash burger and fries to-go. While I waited, I was offered a glass of fresh lemonade, which was such a kind gesture! The lemonade was so refreshing, and the burger and fries were excellent. Generous portion sizes for a great price. We will definitely be back to dine-in next time.

Among the many great things to share, there are two consistencies that I have found from each of the restaurants this owner has had (this one, the last Checkers, and the first Checkers [at the same location as 300 West James).1. Food Quality: Every dish is made with flavor that is top notch and unmatched. I had the "Truffle Shuffle" pizza and my wife had a burger. Both came out with flavors that caused us to keep saying "we can't wait to come back" before we even left.2. Service: If you've ever read Danny Meyer's "Setting the Table," he talks about the concept of enlightened hospitality...this idea explains a feeling that you are getting more than service, you are being treated with purposeful kindness. As has been in the case with both of the previous Checkers restaurants, 300 West James delivers the same feeling. Despite not being the only person there, you always end up feeling like you are the most important person there.
Parking: About 8 - 10 spots next to the restaurant.

This place has ties to the old Checkers restaurant I'm lancaster which was my favorite! 300 west James has a small to medium size menu but I haven't been disappointed yet. It's never busy when i go in so I hope it stays open!They've got some really unique Flatbread and sandwiches.As of 4/28 they were still byob but I think they might be getting an alcohol permit soon.Check this place out!

Food was great. But apparently this is a new place and they are still finding their way. We were not offered specials, but the people who sat beside us were. And then there's the "drinks are in the fridge" thing. I mean, are we supposed to go and get our drinks, or are they just on display? That seems to knock the atmosphere down a little, but aside from that the meal was great and people were enjoying themselves. Absolutely get the warm cookie at the end. Outstanding!
We celebrated the 46th year of my proposal to my wife during valentines week when it was the Italian Villa. I shared with M, the owner, what I would like as a tribute to that event and she carried thru to the T. From the food, the service , to the wine it was amazing and we will never forget it. It was like we were taken back in time to that day in February, 1977. The waitress and chef were so accommodating. I recommend this venue for your special occasion. “M” is truly a fabulous event planner. Thank-you again for making our day very special. Denny and Karen
