Bert and The Elephant has great service, but the vibe is what really makes it special. It truly feels like you’re in Belgium! The food and drinks are amazing, and to top it off, I also found out that Bert’s and my family are from the same neighboring town on an island. Then to make it better me and him were born in the same town in a whole different country across the world, such a small world.
Bert is a great guy, but his explanation about the beers, the technique behind the foam and how to enjoy it was mind blowing!!

Bert’s restaurant was fantastic! Service was great. We had a party of 7 and the food and drinks came out very quickly, every order was correct and the food was delicious! Bert is a very attentive owner. He stopped at our table numerous times to check on us. Will definitely return when in the area.

I took my husband here for his birthday and have only positive things to say. The food is fantastic, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is quaint, clean, and cozy. It may not be the cheapest, but it's not bad given the portion size, and it's worth it given the high quality of the food. My husband got the Beef Carbonnade and I got the moules frites - both of which were perfect. The Belgian beer selection is diverse and having a different glass depending on the beer is a nice touch. Personally, I also appreciated that a portion of the proceeds from certain beer is going to the fight against breast cancer throughout the month of October. Overall, we would rate this a 10/10 and highly recommend a visit for a unique, high quality restaurant in downtown Lancaster.
I would like to share a review but due to the unprofessional actions of the owner, I can not. My daughter recently got married and had met with the owner regarding an after party. He told them that he would be happy to host it there. There were numerous attempts to contact him. I personally went to the restaurant and an employee called him. He said that it was on his calendar and that he would be sending out a contract that day. We never heard from him. I understand this is not the first time this happened. DO NOT book anything with the owner as he is unreliable. I wish I could have given a no star rating.
Very quaint little place serving some unique brews not typically found elsewhere. Clean and quiet. Definitely a low key vibe. Server was excellent until it came to getting the check which took a little longer than we expected, but no biggie.
