Business hours are very misleading. It says they’re open from 5-9pm, but by the time I got there around 6:30 they were sold out of nearly everything? I walked in the cold from an area a bit more further away to get there. Once I did the lady at the register didn’t explain anything and just quickly offered me whatever was left apparently, which was two orders of doubles.. I paid.. and waited almost 20 mins just for her to tell me they actually didn’t have anything left?! She didn’t even seem sorry about it either. Absolutely ridiculous. Don’t even bother coming here unless you place an order online well in advanced, and like to eat your food lukewarm out of to-go containers. Definitely won’t be wasting my time coming back here again. Which is a shame cause I did initially want to give it a try.

I had to check out Callaloo before they shut down for a few months at the end of December. It’s a tiny little place on the corner of North Mulberry and West Lemon streets in Lancaster serving Trinidadian food. I strongly recommend getting the Buss-Up-Shut dinners, which is a choice between curried veggies, curried chicken or curried beef. Now you can also add the Buss-Up-Shut to any meal for an additional charge. The Buss-Up Shut is bread that is used to eat the curry meal called paratha roti. It’s a flatbread that is layered in butter and beaten into pieces resembling a busted up shirt hence the name. The curried chicken was incredibly flavorful and loaded with potatoes, chickpeas, roasted pumpkin and cilantro. It went perfect with the paratha.

heard good things about this place and i was excited to see a caribbean offering in Lancaster. however, upon entering the establishment i knew not to expect much from my experience lol.. the service is nice, as is the atmosphere. but the food leaves much to be desired. as someone who has had authentic trini food, this is not it. ordered the fish and shrimp curry and the flavors were one dimensional and not rich at all. it was missing a LOT of flavor that true caribbean curry possesses. doubles were the same and were literally just ok. i think this place is catering to a certain palette, given the location.. you will find way better trini food in new york, dc and md. it's interesting how rave the reviews are for what it is.

Our dinner was delicious! We shared a doubles appetizer and had the sweet potato dumplings and spicy pepper beef. We also added the bread to both entrees and ended up taking leftovers home. Warning that the beef is VERY spicy. We loved everything that we ordered. FYI that it is BYOB.

First time having Trinidadian food and didn’t know what to expect. Everything was SOOO good. Portions are hefty. The place is quite small and appeared packed when we arrived. Luckily, we were able to get a table right away (the only one available).I wish I lived closer. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Phenomenal BYO Trinidadian restaurant in Lancaster City. You may have to wait for a table, but it is entirely worth it.

Stumbling on this restaurant was a happy accident! The food was delicious and they were very attentive to our table’s allergies. We discovered some fun new dishes and ingredients and the portions were ample. The soup, curries, buss-and-shut, and drinks are very recommendable. Can’t wait to come back!Vegetarian options: Loads of incredible vegetable based optionsDietary restrictions: They were very accommodating to our nut allergiesParking: Parking lot was easy to find after reading the instructions on their website footer.

Small but cozy eating space with views of the street corner pedestrians. Food was delicious and service was friendly and attentive without interrupting our meal. Love that there are several plant based options that are faux meat! The trini corn soup and vegetable curry were decidedly comfort food. The pace of customers entering increases soon after they open at 5 pm...it was full at 6 when we finished and left our table.Vegetarian options: Soup of the day, cassava fries, vegetable curry

Always a must whenever spending any amount of time in Lancaster. The food hits so nicely, and tonight, enjoying the sorrel, enjoying the sunset, dining with friends, strangers asking each other what they've had or tried, really beautiful.Everything I've had there has been extraordinary, and the staff is phenomenal.
