This is a very small space but great selection of wine and nibblies. I recommend the buffalo sausage with ghost pepper sauce. Goes great with a glass of Absinthe as a start to the night.

A LITTLE EXPENSIVE FOR A GLASS OF WINE, $14 BUT MY WIFE LIKED IT

Lancaster now has a number of nice wine bars, but this tiny romantic mainstay above Carr's restaurant is my favorite. They have less common mostly-French selections by the glass and beautiful glass windows to sit in (on little sofas or plush chairs) at any time of day. Service is always sweet and excellent too, with tastes provided if you can't decide. Eclectic decor and bright colors work, and you can sit in the window on the other side from the street and look into the mall, the style Lancaster loves to create inside an old building. I have never eaten here, nor at Carr's, which is heavy traditional food (nothing plant-based that I saw), but it's a neat space you will get a good view of when you head to the far away bathroom. There is another small cozy triangular bar under the steps you descend. This is right across from the Dispensing Company, so there is easy parking in the adjacent lot.

Carr's Restaurant has a wine cellar atmosphere with good grub. It's nice enough in the winter--an angular wooden bar cuts under the stairs that descend from street level and the colorful walls and comfort food make you forget any blizzard that might be raging above. But when summer light glows against the orange bricks of Central Market, you really should be upstairs, sitting along the sawtooth windows of Crush Wine Bar and enjoying a panorama of small-town street life. Crush is a kaleidoscope-themed cubby-hole at the junction of Central Market, Lancaster Dispensing Company and a busy parking lot. It is part of Carr's Restaurant, and Tim Carr will prepare you the same mouthwatering burger and fries (or pork & sauerkraut with apple fritters) there that he serves downstairs. You will also have an intimate selection of unusual beers, including the latest offering from Lancaster's understated artisanal brewers, Fetish. Much of their product is distributed CSA-style, by invitation only, but Crush carries a handsome variety. You may even be served by one of the Fetishists, Aaron Risser, who occasionally tends bar. Except for an after-work rush, Crush is often strangely quiet. Enjoy it--it won't last. Tim plans to expand his dining operations upstairs, taking over the former Tamanend Winery tasting room, and Crush will be mashed in the mix. Here's to hoping that the new blend of space keeps a bit of the lonely comfort and quirky personality of the old.

Downstairs, corner stool, Hendricks & Tonic, tall glass, crushed ice, muddled cucumber...

This is for the wine only, I was not able to eat here, but will be returning soon. This is a cute little corner place that is very eclectic and fun. Their wine selection is small, but really good. Even my husband found something he liked! The bartender was nice and really on top of things. The place is tiny, but comfortable. I really enjoyed it for what it was.

Amazing food, wonderful drinks and always the best service. Bartenders take very good care and offer a wealth of knowledge. Love it here!

Great place to relax and have a glass of wine. Great beer selection too. Funky decor with an artsy mix. The food was good, not great but not bad. The place is small and cozy.

Looking for a beer you have never heard of? Then Crush is the place to start!

Very good bottled beer and wine selections. Cheese plate is decent, but I would probably select a different appetizer next time. Nice atmosphere.

After dinner and going through 3 wine bottles at home, I suggested to my bf and his brother, "MORE WINE!!!" So after much prodding and whining, they gave in to my demands. And off we went!...Like a heard of turtles...(they insisted they both take a shower first)... So there we were, all young and artsy, pretending to be French. Apparently everything in this establishment is for sale (the couch, the art, the benches, the plants, etc.) I was still hungry, so I ordered the crab artichoke dip and the "Bubbles" off their wine list. Both the boys ordered the Absinthe. Unfortunately, they were all sold out of the "gooooooood Absinthe", so they just picked a different one. If you don't like the taste of black licorice, it's not for you. If you need to go to the bathroom, it's downstairs, past all the people enjoying the live band playing, through a swinging door, and to your right. Bathrooms are very nicely designed. You might be wondering why I'm rating their bathrooms...but think about it...would you really eat at a place with dirty bathrooms? Anyhow, I'll have to go there again and order more food to really rate their fare. Until next time!
