Not too bad of an American restaurant. However, I wouldn't classify this place as a fine dining restaurant. If at most, it's a higher end casual restaurant. The food was above average as well as the service, but it wasn't amazing at the same time. Overall, a 4/5 experience. Cheers.

It was my first time dining at John J Jeffries this evening and I have to say everything was outstanding. The food, the atmosphere, the service. Bill and Abbie, our servers, took care of us like we’ve been friends for years. The food was so fresh and delicious. Overall a wonderful experience. I’ll be back again soon!

This was our first time dining at John J Jeffries and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Our hostess Evelyn was exceptional , extremely friendly , professional and accommodating towards us. Chad was an outstanding server. Extremely knowledgeable of all the menu items from cocktails to all the dinner plates. If you’re ever in the Lancaster area this is a must on your list of places to have a wonderful dinner.

We are relatively new to the Lancaster area and were delighted to discover John Jeffries. It has now become our happy place. We are here 2-3 times each month! Every single thing we've ever ordered has been delicious, beautifully prepared and served. The manager and staff are very professional and attentive. Extensive wine and cocktail offerings. We know it's a bit of a splurge but we don't mind paying for good quality food, locally sourced or supportive of small farms.

This place was top notch from beginning to end! Every employee that we interacted with was so warm and welcoming - from the person who took our reservation over the phone, the hostess, the waitress … A+ personality! We were visiting from out of town and I chose this place because of the high reviews and the “farm to table”. What a great choice!! The food was absolutely incredible!! And the price was very reasonable for the quality of food that was served. We were expecting the bill to be so much higher than it was. We asked to be seated outside and the ambiance outside was incredible! Thank you for such a great dinning experience! If we ever come back to the area we will definitely stop here again!!
Parking: parking garage was only a few steps away from the restaurant.

The ambiance was perfect for a romantic dinner. Our server, Chad, did a fantastic job and made our anniversary so special. The food was delicious and the cocktails were great. We will definitely return on our next trip to Lancaster!
Dietary restrictions: The pesto was nut free! They showed a lot of care with my food allergy!

This is one of my wife and my favorite restaurants. We are amazed at the extraordinarily high-quality of food, especially with a seasonally rotating menu. Tonight we had the locally caught rainbow trout, and it was one of the best prepared fishes I have ever had.

What a find! My wife and I wanted a special place to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary, and we just happened to be in Lancaster, PA. The Yelp and Google reviews for this restaurant have it as one of the highest rated fine dining establishments in the entire area... I think the reviews are too low.
The meal was delicious... everything we ate, from appetizers to main course was top notch food. You can tell that they take the time to make sure that all their food is made with the best ingredients and finest preparation as it was all so good!
We wish there was one in our area... but this will always give us something to look forward to anytime we visit Amish country!

This review is solely for the hostess. We were very pleased by the food and service by our waitress. We understand fine dining places may not necessarily be kid friendly. We were 4 adults and a toddler. It was not the toddler’s first fine dining experience. She’s been to plenty of countries and eaten at various types of restaurants. We looked at their website before making a reservation where there was no mention of no kids allowed. When we got there, they provided us a high chair and on a table in another section, a father and a little girl were dining. All the tables in our section were completely empty. After her meal, my daughter wanted to walk around us by our table. The hostess first came to us and said for safety reasons she can’t be walking around. Even though there was no one else there we understood and took her to the area closer to the lobby where the hostess herself suggested. While my husband and I took turns keeping her entertained and out of the dining area, the hostess returned and stated “she can’t be squealing here” verbatim. She had a problem with my daughter giggling…? Again didnt think much of it and tried to stay by the lobby where the hostess chased us down and again berated us. She had no problems with a white kid dinning near us so we couldn’t help but see her treatment was due to the color of our skin. My friend confronted the hostess, who just brushed her off. We came here with high expectations after hearing wonderful reviews from my colleagues and local friends. As much as we enjoyed the food and drinks, the attitude of the staff was appalling. Why have a high chair if you’re not kid friendly? Or why seat us down when we walked in with a toddler? Why wait to constantly berate us after we were close to closing our tabs? She basically chased us out and we wont be returning to an establishment that employs a racist.
