We were in town traveling and stopped by Mekatos and are sooo glad we did! Got Desiree’s Plate with tender chicken in a rich peanut sauce, but the standout was the rice: crispy, packed with flavor, and totally unlike any fried rice we’ve had before. Truly incredible meal..10/10!
One of the best meals I’ve had. I’m fortunate to be able to eat at some really great places. Mekatos food is flavorful and interesting, the staff are friendly and kind, and that crunch in the rice! Eat here, often.
Delicious! Had the Desiree's plate and it was excellent!
My favorite place in Southern Market. Dishes are slightly pricey BUT you get a pretty big portion, it usually eat it across 2-3 meals (and trust me I can eat 😬) so it ends up being worth it. I love their Lao Picadillo, the brisket, chicken, nam khao and papaya salad combo is unbeatable. If you’re a spice lover, you HAVE to ask for their hot sauce on the side it is 🤌🤌 love coming here and will continue to visit when I’m downtown!
really great arepas, and really friendly workers!!
Best spot in Southern Market. I was hooked before I even bought something - such a friendly crew, I was offered a sample bowl of their rice with peanut sauce which is GREAT marketing because I couldn’t possibly go anywhere else after trying the sample. My absolute favorite is Desiree’s Plate - it is SO flavorful, and their rice is the best rice in the city. 10/10 you should go here!!
Excellent fusion spot in the Southern Market. The staff were very friendly and gave us a sample of the sticky rice as we were unfamiliar with it - so good! We had the sancocho (special of the day - Colombian) and Desiree's plate with chicken (Laos). My boyfriend enjoyed how hearty the sancocho was, but said it was a bit too sweet due to the carrots. He still ate it all though! Desiree's plate with chicken had tasty sticky rice, chicken, and vegetable slaw with a peanut sauce on top to tie it all together. We will definitely be eating here again!
The brisket fusion tacos are amazing, the crunchy rice on the bottom is a game changer.
Taste was good. Meat and arepa were reheated and premade. Possibly from a different day. Meat could be more warm and was a little dry. Chellas is far superior. Needs more Colombian options on the menu.
Delicious fusion food, lots of options but the very best part is the consistency. Any day, any employee and you'll get the same quality dish every time. I suggest the brisket tacos!

Mekatos is a nice surprise find. The staff are very friendly. I ordered the Lao papaya salad, which I enjoyed. I was being offered to sample the broken rice, which was also delicious.

The meat & chicken was very dry. The dishes we had, I can’t remember the names but one was arepa with carne, the meat was so dry, we needed sauce to eat it. The arepa was tough. The other dish was Nan something? The chicken looked good but must’ve been cooked the day before and just reheated, I almost choked on it. This place sadly does not desrve a 4.9 rating. We based our decision on that and were so disappointed. It was absolutely not worth spending over $60 on it.
