I stumbled upon Mekatos in the southern market in Lancaster and haven’t gone a week without it since. I’m OBSESSED. I always get the Desiree with brisket. Everything about it is perfect. The Brisket is tender and juicy, the vegetables are fresh, the peanut sauce is spicy, the mangos are sweet, and the crunchy rice is out of this world. My husband brings me every Thursday. I’m gluten free and suffer through a lot of bland or terrible food, so I’m extra thrilled to have found a safe place for me to eat with so much flavor. The owners are super nice and friendly. You can dine in, take out, or even order ahead if you’re in a hurry. We love it there!

Finding a gluten free option that has great flavor can be difficult. This place nailed it!!! My wife and I always get the Desiree’s plate with brisket and we have been back every week. The crunchy rice is cooked perfectly, the brisket is seasoned and cooked to perfection and the homemade peanut sauce is to die for! The portions are big and the owner is super nice and friendly! I recommend this place to everyone I meet!

I was greeted by a very kind gentleman who immediately offered me a sample of the crispy rice. I ordered the crispy rice. He offered me a side of salad and when I commented on how good the beef smelled, he also offered me a sample of that. The food was amazing. Arguably one of the best bites I’ve had in Lancaster!

Had the Arepas Con Carne+ and it was absolutely delicious. It’s a generous portion, artfully presented and has a fantastic mix of textures and flavors. The meat is tasty and plentiful and the veggies fresh and crisp.
The service was great and genuinely kind.
This is in Southern Market so the setting is great, with lots of comfortable seating. I can’t wait to come back.

Inside the southern market, you will find this beautifully blended Fusion of food. I had the stir fry with the crunchy rice. I have never tasted so many perfectly paired flavors in a plate of rice. The owners are warm and kind people. An absolute must visit. No pictures because I have no self control!! 🤣 MUST GO!!

We were in town traveling and stopped by Mekatos and are sooo glad we did! Got Desiree’s Plate with tender chicken in a rich peanut sauce, but the standout was the rice: crispy, packed with flavor, and totally unlike any fried rice we’ve had before. Truly incredible meal..10/10!
