Jennifer and her team at Simply from Scratch (SFS) are absolutely stellar, and I wholeheartedly recommend their catering service to anyone hosting a wedding or event. My partner and I were looking for a wedding catering vendor that offered most services included, which we would choose to do again 100%, as it was less than we had to plan and think about on the day of the event. All we had to do was provide the alcohol, and the rest was taken care of. They offer multiple packages to suit all couples' budgets, and considering what they provide, it is a great value. Jennifer told us guests don't leave hungry, and it couldn't have been truer.
From the first initial email to the in-person linen session, tasting sessions, and finally the wedding day, it was absolutely a fantastic, seamless experience. SFS was on the recommended caterers our venue, Historic Ashland, worked with, and the owner, Leah, only had positive things to say - they were the first catering venue we tried, and we cut the check for the deposit before leaving the parking lot. Jennifer was very responsive, and I deeply appreciated her insight into what typically works and what doesn't. She would listen and acknowledge all of our ideas/dreams, but would be sure to be honest with us about what she has seen in her experience, and how certain things play out in reality. We followed most, if not all, of her suggestions for our foundational ideas, and on the wedding day, our guests were incredibly satisfied with the food. I am also so thankful for their flexibility and understanding - they still showed up even though our bank final check was delayed in the mail.
If my partner and I ever host an event in the York/Lancaster area, we will certainly look to work with Jennifer and SFS again.

On the day of our event, they showed up on time, set everything up quickly, and most importantly: everything was delicious! Jennifer even went with us to the store to help choose linens, which was such a relief with so many options. The colored cups we chose ended up being one of my favorite details and looked perfect with the linens.
Their attention to detail was incredible—they even designed a custom menu to match the font and style of our table numbers. On our wedding day, they went above and beyond by having a plate of food from cocktail hour waiting for us, making sure we had drinks and dinner right away, and checking in throughout the evening to ensure we were taken care of.
We are so grateful for their attentiveness, professionalism, and care. Karen and Jennifer made our wedding so special, and we can’t recommend them enough!

My wife and I got married almost 3 months and we used Simply from Scratch as our catering team. We had the most AMAZING experience working with Jennifer and Karen!
We had a longer engagement (almost 2 years), and we scheduled a food tasting prior to booking SFS for our wedding (we wanted to make sure the food was even good before booking them). The food was delicious so we instantly booked them! When it came time to picking out our wedding food menu, it had been so long since we tried their food, they let us have another small tasting to sample a few more items. We also really wanted our wedding cake to have rainbow layers on the inside, and SFS gave us a mini cake at the tasting to try out the coloring, etc. It was so thoughtful and made us so happy!
SFS also met with us at the linen shop and helped us pick our tablecloths, plates, forks, etc. I was second guessing myself a few months after picking the linens, and they helped us pick out some new tablecloth options, as well. Our day was BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Now for the food (aka the best part) - WOW, DELICIOUS!!!! We ordered the Cesar salad (I'm obsessed with Cesar salad - it was delicious!), the garlic parmesan chicken, the braised short ribs, scalloped potatoes, roasted glazed carrots. We had the food as a buffet, and they were so quick/efficient with it. For the dessert, we had cupcakes, cookies, shooters, a donut wall, a two-tiered cake - so so good!! Breakfast is also my favorite food, and I really wanted a late night snack of breakfast sandwiches (this wasn't on their menu but SFS made it happen)... this was one of my favorite things they made!
Lastly, the SFS team was so professional, sweet, nurturing (they gave us sweet motherly/grandmother vibes <3). Everyone is still talking about how amazing the food was!!! Some people have said it's the best wedding food they've ever had. 10/10 recommend having SFS cater your wedding/event!!!
