Me and my girlfriend Rachel stopped here while we were staying at a Cabin nearby. We were not prepared for how good this food was. It was delicious, every single item we had was to die for! One of the best meals I have ever had in PA, if not the best. It was so good in fact, we made reservations for the following night and it was just as phenomenal the second time. We will absolutely be coming back to this area just for this restaurant! Cannot recommend this place enough! God bless!

Visiting friends in Oil City who raved about the Wayside. They were absolutely right! Family owned by a warm and friendly couple and their son, the chef, the atmosphere is that of walking into Grandma's house for Sunday dinner. Simple, but warm and cozy. But the food... So good!!! I had the salmon with crab and horseradish sauce. Huge piece of fish, perfectly cooked. I'm not generally a sauce person, but this was exceptional! My friends had the steak and the pork chop. Equally delicious! And the desserts... My carrot cake was scrumptious, as were the espresso chocolate cake and the cheesecake. Nicole, Mike and Jake chatted us up and we felt like family. All in all, a wonderful experience and an excellent meal.

My wife and I agree with the many other reviews here regarding super-high prices and unremarkable food. We spent $47.95 for a Chilean Sea Bass entree -- a price we'd be used to seeing in the big city. Due to the cost, we had to split one meal. The green beans were sparse and the mashed potatoes were bland for what should have been a higher-end dinner. It was painfully obvious that little effort was taken to make it distinctive in any way. We arrived at 5 p.m. It took 45 minutes for our meal to come and I had to flag down our waitress to check on it. When I spoke with the owner afterward, he was unapologetic and told me I just had to expect this kind of wait on the weekends. Like many diners, we eat at restaurants to be served and to get a break from our own kitchen -- not to have to wait endlessly and make it a chore. I guess this place just needs to hire more staff and be more grateful for locals.

It was cold in the room, loud crowd in the same room that my person across the table couldn’t hear me. Food was good. Although they sell pasta sauce and dressing that they don’t actually use.

We came for our anniversary. The food was absolutely amazing! Fresh, quality ingredients. Nice wine selection. The owners were super friendly and kind and the chef was enthusiastic and passionate. You could tell he puts that into his dishes. I have dreams at night of enjoying the pumpkin flat bread again. 😆 so yummy! Can't wait to go back!

Prices were outrageous. Food was not worth 1/2 the price. Service was distant at best. Our waitress visited us twice. We never got water. I really wanted to like this place. It came highly recommended. And usually I will give a restaurant a second chance to make a better impression. But not at these prices. Place must have a rich cult following?

Before to stop for dinner at this restaurant I have used the other people reviews from the Google Map. In our case, we really liked the pleasant and authentic atmosphere of antiquity inside the restaurant. Also, we felt very respectful service from the owner of the restaurant, for which we thank her very much. Food is a separate art. Everything is very homely, simple and incredibly delicious. Moreover, thank you very much for the beautiful classical music that became a soft addition to our dinner.

I was at The Wayside on a Saturday night, a bit of a celebration I suppose, on the strength of a couple very good recommendations. To be brief, The Wayside is nothing short of spectacular! It is by far the best restaurant in the area, and I would suggest that it keeps pace with all but the very very best (and most expensive) in New York or Chicago. If Zagat rated The Wayside, it would be a 27+. It is that good.

The menu would appear to be edited down from what it once was, but it was still great. This is an old school presentation with a strong emphasis on quality. The appetizers were fairly predictable, but very very good, and the Coconut Shrimp were by far the best I've ever had. Amazing. The salads and bread were excellent, and the entrees included a couple fish (including a Sea Bass you never see around here), several outstanding dry aged steaks, a pork osso bucco, and a seafood casserole, in addition to the Mexican specials for the evening.

The cocktails were, predictably, just right. Big, with top shelf liquor. I don't know that they had the boutique liquor that one sees in Chicago or New York, but something has to give out here in the country!

Yes, it is pretty expensive by local standards, but the value is absolutely there. This is very fine dining without the pretentious city nonsense. Honestly, it reminds me of a couple places in the Hamptons (the ritzy waterside end of Long Island). All about quality and a relaxed experience.

My advice is get a reservation, don't hold back, and enjoy The Wayside for what it is. This is a home run!
