First it is a "Cheers" bar - people are really friendly and as far as we could tell, politics gets checked at the door. Service can be "deliberate" when it's jammed, which it can be, but you'll get what you need-- almost when you need it. Food choices are surprisingly varied and well-prepared. A decent selection of drafts and a better range of bottles provide good beer choices as well. We're not Karaoke fans, but Mary's is kinda worth it -- sort of the first round of American Idol with some, umm, earnest acts reminding you that the really good performers--and there were several-- shouldn't be taken for granted. If you're staying in the "Comfortable" dump across the street, it's a great place to go and get away from your cell. We'll be back even when we have to drive farther.“
