The Bistro @ Village Green is a beautiful event venue. It was a very nice neutral tone with a very classy set up - making it super easy to work with. The food is also incredible. It tasted like the chicken salad was grilled and mixed right before it was sat out (and I believe it was) and the soup we chose was a hot topic of our guests as well. I send all my thanks to the kitchen staff for their work on our event catering today! HOWEVER, I give it two stars as an EVENT VENUE (not a restaurant) due to the lack of professionalism from staff, mostly Elizabeth Cooke. Back in September when I booked for our bridal shower for today (end of January) it was a pleasant experience....even from 2 hours away in a different state where I was having to plan it from.I was given the packages, all the information I asked for, and I decided to book. I paid a deposit and informed them exactly which package I wanted and let them know the menu and that was it for sometime. Come closer to the date, I am not permitted to pay for the shower until after Jan 1, when the new package prices come out! How is that possible when I paid a deposit for the price shown to me back in September....? Then as I am finalizing details, I have to wait days to get a returned phone call or an answered phone call. And when I did it was like she Elizabeth did not want to talk to me. And it's not like I can just go check for myself being that far away. When I express my concerns of payment and other things (like the colored cloths I was told they had but on the phone they all of a sudden don't) I am met with what feels to be a snarky attitude. Whatever. Fast forward to day of (literally this morning I am writing this just hours after) and we are informed that I paid $14 a person, 6% sales tax, and then 20% gratuity on top of that (which blows my mind because there was one 'server' walking around only picking up plates. She was a very kind young woman, but had I known that was all I would be tipping 20% of $300+ to.....I would have stopped there immediately) only for the food to not be able to be out through the entire party due to 'FDA requirements' but I run a restaurant and am ServSafe certified and there are in fact such things called 'hold times' on food - which are typically up to 4 hours when properly stored. Why was I not informed I would only be able to have the food for less than half? Oh yeah, and they put it all out UNCOVERED 45 minutes before the party even began!?!?!? If I could only have it for a certain period WHY was it put out way before anyone was there besides those of us doing final touches? There should have been proper equipment there to ensure proper hold times on food if there are concerns of health violations. On top of that, all of the extra food that I PAID FOR got THROWN AWAY! We were not even allowed to take home the 12+ sandwiches that could have gone to a much better place than the trash can. Disgusting. To top all of this off, we were to have this from 12-4 is what I was told. We get there and all of a sudden today it is 12-3. Fine, no biggie. But at 2:30 (30 minutes before we were to be finishing up) they are tearing down their things from the room while we are still talking and finishing the shower plans. And about 15 minutes prior to that was when both Elizabeth and who appeared to maybe be the culinary manager began leaning against the food table STARING into everyone making us all feel incredibly awkward and rushed to get out. If we were to be out AT 3pm including cleaning we should have known that from the start. The communication is terrible. The way we were rushed and treated so passive aggressively is the most unprofessional experience I have ever had and like I said, I run a high pace restaurant. I am exceptionally unhappy with my experience compared to the price. If you have made it this far, I would NOT recommend for any event space. Ever.

The food is always delicious. The wait for this visit was extended, but the servers did a wonderful job of making sure everyone was attended to. Definitely suggest making a reservation before hand. The wait wasn't all bad. It gave us time to chat with each other without feeling like we were being rushed.

Our food was awesome. We had the cranberry nut wrap. We loved itWaitress was pleasant and waited on us very sufficiently.

Food was cold and overcooked. Furnishings were that in a diner. Nothing like a "Bistro".

Good food, good service, good value.

We often visit this restaurant and have always had a delicious meal, excellent service and relaxing ambiance. Chef Ken frequently visits guests for feedback and as a personal touch. We’ll definitely be back!

I've been to The Bistro several times this summer and have had a wonderful experience each time. The food and service are outstanding, and the value is EXCEPTIONAL. My wife and I especially enjoy their unique appetizers. We've also used their takeout service, which is convenient. Highly recommend!

We just stumbled upon this place on our visit to Martinsburg. Beautiful atmosphere. We had the Berry & Nut wrap with grilled chicken. It was fantastic. Our waitress was wonderful. Definitely going back and taking family & friends along.
