our order came out fast. food Is delicious. alot of food for your money. The staff was really nice. Bathrooms were very clean.
Sloppily served soup and sides. Spilled over cups onto saucers. Waitress didn’t try to clean or resolve. Cole slaw was old brown and inedible. Red beets had a moldy taste and were not pickled. Taken from cans with sliced onions added. Steak was grey and seafood platter was fried in old grease. Very heavy dark and oily breading. Unappetizing unacceptable and definitely unappealing. Poor quality. Needless to say, I was very disappointed.

Brownstone Cafe is one of my favorite places to eat, it has a Down Home Country feel plus the food is delicious and the service is great. If you are in Middletown I highly recommend the Brownstone Cafe

A nice historic restaurant with wide menu selections, prompt service even when busy, and large portions. Be prepared to take some food home. Used to be a bank so ask about the teller window and safe. Some of the bars are still on the windows.

my wife and I stopped there for lunch on sunday. It was very busy as usual. we always order the same thing because we know it will be very good. but that Sunday, we received our food and we were disappointed of the size of the of everything. it seemed like something off the kids menu.
Ended up here by a happy accident. I love old, architecturally significant buildings that are repurposed and this fits the bill. The old vault and teller window are wonderful to see.
The food was mostly excellent and a great value, but I had to give a small dig for my home fries being more than a bit undercooked. They were busy and I think the kitchen was trying to push food and they pushed mine too soon. My message is I would rather wait a few extra minutes to get my food right.
Will be back if we find ourselves passing through and hungry.
